I'd like to bring the headline to everyone's attention:

Rape Tropes are back, but will be displayed ads from non-Google sources. In addition, they will all be cleaned and (precautionarily) locked.

As Google ads are still on other pages, that seems like a very nice compromise if Google agrees to it.

It seems that some of these tropes are getting renamed now.

Good to see that cleanup is continuing.

I still think that was ridiculous enough for me to justify speeding up the phasing out Google ads. Clear out Fetish Fuel sections and Troper Tales, I can live with that. Cutting porn/pedophilia? Fine and good. But leading to a disabling of an entire index which is useful in fiction, particularly since there had been a sizable cleanup effort?

... yeah, we should still consider schemes to phase it out.

My personal opinion as a troper is that it should return, but that holds no weight.

In the mean time, though, I'd be great if everyone could focus on the pages we know for sure that we're keeping. Rewrite anything that sounds too gushy, is rape apologia, or reads like it was typed with one hand. Whenever a page looks clean, please make a bolded statement to that effect so that we know to lock the page.

Question to the moderation: Several of the renamed rape tropes had their redirects cut. I've moved/will be moving all the wicks which pointed to the old name that showed up on the Related To page, but should I use the deleted page wick finder tool to make sure I haven't missed any?

You can't use that anyway. It's been disabled.

We did have one in the currently locked thread when it's been cancelled the same day as the great lockout.

Blank crowner for the last problematic trope hooked. Old crowner to fill it up here.

Er... actually, there's one more after this. So second-to-last.

Not If They Enjoyed It Rationalization seems to be the best name. "Arousal" does not equal "Enjoyment" in my opinion, and "consensual" is something else altogether.

I don't like any about Common Rapist Defense or similar, because it tells you prettymuch nothing about what the trope actually is. My favorite is currently Arousal Consent Confusion, but the one Septimus mentioned above is also good.

Finished the Rape Tropes rename with the FAQ thread and Renamed Tropes - but since I wasn't on the board, someone will have to add the renaming reason there.

Caught a small problem post lock on It's Not Rape If You Enjoyed It. The example from the film version of Carrie was deleted in the clean, but the mention of the novel is still there. It simply says to "see the film example" which is no longer present.

You want the edit request for a locked page thread in FAQ.

EDIT 7/5: And I think the crowner is definitely ready to be called.

Once that is done, could it be swapped out with this crowner, please? Rape as Redemption is the last rape trope that needs a new name.

Rape Portrayed as Redemption is the best. Everything else is ambiguous and/or could refer to a rapist repenting after having raped someone.

There's a new trope called Date Crepe. The pun is in poor taste, creepy and needless.

The title is a rape pun? Not sure how that could be.
