That just makes "trope" as a placeholder.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. So this page is still a mess. Most of the subtropes aren't actually subtropes, and the name doesn't work.
Single prop hooked.

Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!Would it be more useful to keep the index and transplant the trope to another name?
Calling crowner.

Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.How this this page even get the name "Mistaken for Index"? It's not a supertrope to all cases of mistaking things. Its a supertrope for episode plots based on misheard conversation! Most of the "subtropes" shouldn't be on the page at all.
It was apparently once called Oops... I Did It Again. Expo Speak calls it by that name.

Relevant. (And perhaps indicative of how it got its current name.)
and
When you put that in perspective: "This Index Is A Mistake!"

Fandoms are insane.Well, let's see if the names here work and what subtropes should leave the page. Opinions?
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerSurely there should be more discussion here.
Hmmm... perhaps Observed Wrongly, or Concluding Without Context
I added some options that specify "conversation" because this is only about conversations and all the rest is misuse.
If the problem with the old name is that it has the word "index" although it's a trope, then renaming it to This Index Is A Mistake wouldn't solve anything.
Any reason not to use "Misheard Conversation"?
A blog that gets updated on a geological timescale. Not really.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanNo. However, it is near-identical in structure and meaning to Mistaken Conversation, but doesn't have the fun ring that that does. Whilst a decent name, I wouldn't consider it preferable.

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going."Mistaken For Whatever" shouldn't even be an option. This isn't about various things for which something can be mistaken. It's about misinterpreted overheard conversations.
Bumping this, since it's dying. We need to find a solution for this - keep renaming, or redefine first?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanWouldn't we want to split off the index?
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Agree. We should have an index for people mistaking things for other things.
Crown Description:
Vote up for yes, down for no.
If this is a Super-Trope, it should not have "index" in the name. That's just confusing. If this is it's own trope, it needs a name that fits a trope. If not, the examples should be dropped.
