Evil Is Stylish shares the "Imperial Marching Band" image with Leitmotif. I think it suits the latter page better.

It is a much better image for Leitmotif.

Evil Is Stylish would be relatively easier to picture.

Perhaps this pic of Nazi uniforms? With the caption "Nazi by Hugo Boss; the 1934 collection".

Prefer fictional evil. (Which is designated thus by its creator, not public opinion.)

Considering we have a trope entitled Those Wacky Nazis (in which the laconic says "They were very bad guys" with a link to Captain Obvious), tons of popular media aimed at children that feature Nazis as villains, and popular media does use Nazism as shorthand to identify certain characters as villains, I think this is acceptable. Otherwise, we should delete Those Wacky Nazis, since it too casts an evil light on Nazis.

TWN is about Nazis. EIS is not.

(I don't disagree with public opinion; it's not that.)

Nazi fashion choices are already touched on in Putting on the Reich. Could maybe use a populated image page.

What about something like this? [1]

It's got capture, evil uniforms, gloating, despairing heroes, a master plan in bloom...

Saying Megamind is good is problematic, so instead I'll say that I vote for that image.

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.

[up][up] I like that, but I'd wanna see it at wiki size before giving a full thumbs-up.

A little crop and resize [1]

I was really dissatisfied with how murky that version ended up, so I created a more creative crop and resize of the Phineas and Ferb movie pic, here [1].

Not to be negative, but I don't really get the "Stylish" part of Evil Is Stylish from the above pics. The black labcoat is fine, but when I picture this trope it's usually someone like the Joker who can look cool and ridiculous and menacing all at once.

The trope title's kinda unclear...I initially read it as "evil wears slick clothes".

[up] Wait, it's not that? Even the laconic says/implies it's bad guys in cool clothes. Clearly I should read the article more carefully.

@14, I picked the picture because

  • Doof is wearing an evil black jacket, which looks cool; and look, he's even more evil and cool than himself!
  • His evil plan is coming to fruition
  • There are not many practical reasons to manacle a bunch of children together and gloat at them over video; he is preparing a death trap
  • The whole movie plays off the differences in style between alternate universe Doof (who is ruthless and fairly effective) and regular Doof (who is Affably Evil and a Butt Monkey); both are stylish in their own different way, and pathetic in a different way as well

So it captures the visual and plot elements of the trope, in context is an example, and comes from a medium that acknowledges the trope.

Fair enough, but simply coming at this pic knowing very little about the show all I see is a guy wearing black enslaving children. Evil, certainly, but stylish? I dunno, I wouldn't vote it down if there were a crowner but I wouldn't vote it up either. If everyone clearly supports it then go for it.

I think it's an improvement over nothing, which is the leading contender at this point. I heard one vote for image #1 (the horizontal normal view one). Any objections to sticking that one up? Use until better suggested?

Don't see "stylish" at all. Not better than nothing.

Perhaps this pic of Catwoman with the caption "Because, y'know... she's a cat burglar?"? It shows her playing up her theme while dressed in a sexy catsuit (which also matches her theme).

Catwoman looks more audacious than stylish in that picture. She's apparently standing her ground while being attacked, and while that does convey a certain level of panache, it doesn't quite do it for me.

[up][up] That isn't the trope. This trope is about a villain making elaborate schemes and ingeneuos traps and being cool in that way. My wick check showed 50-70% misuse (many things were X Just X so I couldn't always be sure if the trope was used right, but it seemed unlikely), with almost every case of misuse stemming from using the trope to indicate a sharply-dressed villain.

Don't get too comfortable with whatever image is chosen — I intend to take it through TRS starting roughly two weeks from now. I think it needs a rename and a new trope needs to be made for Evil Looks Cool.

/offtopic.

I was primarily basing it off this paragraph:

"While many villains have evolved into more pragmatic methods, the true arch-villains, the ones that make the paper and are most memorable, are the ones that make Evil Stylish. They'll pattern their crimes to follow their own theme, leave clues, and insist on ethical standards and being oddly gentlemanly about it all. Somehow, perhaps in spite of these theatrical methods and knowingly imposing these limitations on themselves, these villains are more formidable for it, proving that even left handed they can force heroes to dance to their tune if they want to save Gotham. Plus, following this self imposed villainous code sometimes affords them a degree of Karmic Protection that goes a long way towards justifying Joker Immunity. "

In the pic, Catwoman is deliberately limiting herself in terms of equipment and attire (conspicuous cat ears, not carrying a gun, etc) as well as the scope of her crimes (stealing a cat statue) in order to fit her chosen theme yet appears to nonetheless be able to hold her ground against others (namely the swordsmen just out of view).

It just looks like a Badass picture to me. She isn't even burgling anything.
