Inspired by this thread, I've noticed that this wiki doesn't have a dedicated cleanup thread for negativity.
As we all know, Complaining About Shows You Don't Like, Creator Bashing and other negativity isn't desired on the wiki, except in a few selected areas like reviews and several Darth Wiki pages (and even then, with limitations). And yet, it's one of the most common sins wiki contributors can make.
So, if you find a page, TLP or discussion whose content seems like a straight-up insult or any other bitching - including complainy soapboxing -, you might ask here for help with removing said content.
The sandbox for this project is located at Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining.

Out of note, Sturgeons Tropes was recently included in the Scrappy Index.
Just an emotional outburst, I really hate it when people get really negative, that's why I despise the DREADED Sturgeon's Law. It's one of the only things I genuinely hate.
Sorry. Just had to get it out.
To the surprise of basically nobody, Esoteric Happy Ending is (once again?) full of complaining. Much of it is also just plain misuse.
Just saw this example posted on Frozen Disney:
- Hatedom: This film has garnered a small but dedicated one, due to it not being a true adaptation of The Snow Queen, its character designs of the females, sexism, racism, plot holes, one-dimensional characters who hold the Idiot Ball often and barely get Character Development, forgettable music, toxic messages, overexposure, FanDumb, and its lazy animation for some scenes.
I wonder about rephrasing that such as adding in the phrase accusations off, as otherwise, it just seems like outright bashing of the movie.

Edit, edit, edit, edit the wikiA Disney movie getting a Hatedom for not being a faithful adaptation. Good god. And why would a film be hated for forgettable or bland music? (to paraphrase, I've not seen the movie, and I've only heard "Let It Go", which I liked)
Plus, is the accusation of "its character designs" basically the two sister characters looking alike? Because if so, this may be difficult to salvage. Also, it looks like a Disney film from what little I've seen. Why would it get a dedicated hatedom for having a similar art style to Tangled and the 90s films? Can't speak for character development or messages or plot holes though.

The accuracy of anything there is beside the point. What matters is that it's clearly somebody trying to pretend their personal opinion is the wiki's.
I agree that adding something like "accusations of" would be a pretty simple way of fixing it.
I said exactly nothing about accuracy. The gist of what I said was "why would blah songs be sufficient for hate?" and "why is a Disney movie being an unfaithful adaptation and having the art direction and aesthetic of a Disney movie noteworthy or relevant to the argument at all?"
Hatedom is listed in Flame Bait. This means that this must be removed.
Seems like the example has been fixed. Looking at other edits from the troper who posted the example, they obviously have a dislike of the film.
Edit, edit, edit, edit the wikiAs I understand it, when we list Hatedom as an example we're noting its existence, not whether it's actually justified in any way. Hating a movie because of "bland" music might seem kind of stupid, but we're not passing judgment on it, just noting that some people feel that way. The problem with the example was that it was wording everything like it was objectively true.
Although mind you, if Hatedom is Flame Bait I have no objection to just cutting the whole example.

As I said in Ask The Tropers, the problem with Hatedom is that every work that's read/watched/played by more than two people will have one. So stating that fact by itself is kind of pointless, and as soon as you go into the reasons, you open up the gates of Hell.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Other problem: in some pages of the wiki, they are linking to Bad Writing- and, considering the context, they are using this as "this writing sucks".

Bad Writing was renamed to Bad Writing Index precisely for that reason.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI got most of the links or corrected them to Bad Writing Index when referring to the trope lists or "tropes about bad writing" in general. I feel a bit iffy to tread on Wall Banger or Dethroning Moment subpages though.
Feel free to remove the links from there as well - Bad Writing Index ought to refer to the index only.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanNeon Genesis Evangelion of all things is listed on Deader Than Disco, with a very prickly entry at that. Did I miss something here, or is it just someone venting their spleen?
The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."I'll freely admit I'm not an animé expert, and haven't even seen Evangelion, but "one of the most hated series of all time" sounds like a massive exaggeration.
It does not matter who I am. What matters is, who will you become? - motto of Omsk BirdThis from Hollywoodland counts as wishing harm on a real person, doesn't it?:
- Harsher in Hindsight: In the beginning, the detective's son is distraught because Superman shot himself. Nowadays, millions of fanboys would cheer if they heard the man playing Superman killed himself.
I deleted it, that's awful.
I cut up one dozen new men and you will die somewhat, again and again.Wow, that entry is grade-A BS. Kill it with extreme prejudice.

"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."Thanks.
Edit, edit, edit, edit the wikiIndeed it does. Kill it with...uhh, well, you know what I mean. Terrible example and a personal attack.
The two last lines of the description of Sturgeons Tropes are "Compare Pet-Peeve Trope and Trope Enjoyment Loophole." and "Contrast Favorite Trope."
