Again, Deflector Shields is currently defined as the supertrope, so that would be narrowing its definition very significantly. Is it being misused? Is it being underused?
Rhymes with "Protracted."Deflector Shields is about shields, force fields used to deflect/absorb attacks. It doesn't cover force fields used to keep people in, or out, or seal things off, or the various possible other uses of force fields.
Calling someone a pedant is an automatic Insult Backfire. Real pedants will be flattered. If we are going to keep it as a supertrope:
1. Deflector Shields is a terrible name for the force field supertrope. 2. The description would need to be rewritten to actually be the supertrope. 3. We would probably want to spin off Deflector Shields as a subtrope.
Or we could change about ten words of Deflector Shields, acknowledge that it is not in fact broad enough to be the supertrope, and create the supertrope, leaving Deflector Shields almost unchanged except for losing the redirect.
And yes, there is misuse... currently, Some Kind of Force Field is being misused as Force Field, which may actually be partially the result of what Force Field is currently poing to (Deflector Shields).
We have Containment Field for the version that keeps things in and seals things off.
Visible On Contact? In retrospect, that might have some uses beyond just force fields...
"If you're out here why do I miss you so much?"That's definitely tropable.
It does not matter who I am. What matters is, who will you become? - motto of Omsk BirdThat would also apply to some Invisibility and Cloaking Device s

The only "transplant" being discussed is the Force Field redirect.
