Not Tropeworthy: A Good Name For A Rock Band get usage counts

[up]I wouldn't mind making it a JFF page. Can we do a crowner for that?
Windmill, windmill for the land / Is everybody in?

The current example sorting doesn't really fit as Just for Fun, since it's more of an actual collection of examples of common band-naming conventions. Just for Fun would be making up your own examples, I'd imagine.

We still need a fix.

You can make this crowner. It's explained on How Crowners Work.

Sharknado Warning
I liked the idea of making this an actual trope about characters remarking that X would be a good name for a rock band.

If examples are lacking, can hit up YKTTW to gather up some.

The crowner was called back in May, yet there seems to be no progress in any way. Should a new crowner be created, or do we just want examples to support the redefinition? Because in my opinion, that definition does not seem to be significant enough from a storytelling fashion, and I'm not sure what would make it a trope.

((I am in favor of just making this a Just for Fun page if that option is still on the table.))
"Be mine, dear big brother."
It's a Stock Joke.

The current page doesn't fit as a Just for Fun page. It's not fun examples of good names for rock bands. It's examples of a variety of common band-naming conventions.

There doesn't seem to be much of a joke there, though, except for the page name. Is the current list worth keeping, or do we need to move it somewhere else if we redefine the page?

((If we do move the list somewhere else, is the current name worth keeping, because while you call it a Stock Joke, I haven't really heard it used nearly often enough outside of niche internet boards to call it one.))

"Be mine, dear big brother."
I've never seen it on niche internet boards. That's not really where it's from. The Trope Namer is Dave Barry, a 90s newspaper humor columnist.

There are enough examples to start off a trope. A good nine or ten. We could run it through YKTTW for more. Should we go ahead and do that?

The items on the current page could all, or just some of them, be tropes on their own.

One big question: What is the proper context for an example, here?

Seeking for Light
[up] What's on the page is still the old definition. The new definition is "someone in-universe makes the joke that 'that would be a good name for a rock band' (or equivalent), as a type of Stock Joke".

[up][up] That's what won the crowner, so I would say yes, do that, please.

I checked out the page and it's still a very long list of real life examples even though the crowner decided that we would only list in-universe examples. Compounded with this thread's history of being lethargic and that it's been almost 2 months since the last post, I would like to know if anyone is working on this, because if not then this is taking up space and I would like to adress Pulling The IV and it's issues but am unable too since this forum is full. Again, just asking and no rudeness intended.

Maybe the examples that don't fit the new definition should be moved to a page like UsefulNotes.Band Name Evolution or something similar.

I suggest cutting all examples that aren't in-universe, as the crowner suggested last year. As this thread demonstrates, there are enough in-universe examples to make a viable page and let wiki magic do its work.

If anyone's interested, they can YKTTW some of the title tropes mentioend on this page, but doing so shouldn't hold up this thread.

Okay, as indicated in the crowner, this is now a page for the Stock Phrase that something is "a good name for a rock band". That means that the page is no longer a list of all bands in fiction, nor a list of real-life bands that someone thought had a good name. It's also 95% smaller now, but that tends to happen when we clean up an "All X in fiction" list anyway.

Just make sure that the remaining examples are sorted.

Is there anything left to do here?

Don't Fear the Spiders
The article feels like it is missing a bunch of legitimate examples but we can leave that to Wiki Magic.
Keep it breezy!
I put it on Stock Jokes and removed it from Naming Conventions, and added back some good examples from the old example list (including one that was formerly a Zero-Context Example).
