So what about my last idea? I dont think length is a problem really.

They are usually stupidly long

The only other idea is "Two Sentence!Laconic Episode Title!!"

Could someone put together a rename crowner? I'd do it myself but I have somewhere I need to go in a few minutes.

We can brainstorm alternate name ideas while that is running.

I'm not sure "rename" is the only option on the plate. "Expand definition" and "trope transplant to make way for supertrope" have both been proposed. Perhaps a page action crowner instead?

Expand to what? I could see a Trope Transplant to just Punctuated Episode Title!! but not expanding the present trope to that. I have plenty of anime examples of that too.

This Two Sentence!!Laconic For An Episode Title!! is a trope that gets used a lot in Shonen and Magical Girl Warrior series that explain what goes on in the episode. Very spoilery and a subtrope to In Which a Trope Is Described. Probably easy access when you are airing 50 episodes a year.

EDIT: It usually spoken by a character in the series in the Next Episode Preview and Title Card. Now that I think about it those that use this trope always have a character voice over the title in the preview and title card, major part of this trope. I also have seen examples of Two Sentence?Laconic For An Episode Title! [1]

We have consensus to rename. Let's see some name brainstorming, or we need to shelve this.

We already have a few name suggestions in this thread. We just need an alterante titles crowner.

Just in case nobody brought this up — we do have Short Title: Long, Elaborate Subtitle. That's geared more towards the documentary-style "Tropeburn: How TV Tropes Ruined My Life" kind of title, but they seem pretty closely related.

[up] Interesting. That does seem rather similar.

[up][up]That's more for things along the lines of Flora Segunda: Being the Magickal Mishaps of a Girl of Spirit, Her Glass-Gazing Sidekick, Two Ominous Butlers (One Blue), a House With Eleven Thousand Rooms, and a Red Dog.

Whereas this is more for stuff like:

Final Attack! Mew Mews At Full Power!

Both are Title with Subtitle, but it isn't quite the same thing.

[up] Tropes Are Flexible. If they're almost but not quite the same thing, I don't think they should be on separate pages.

[up]That's a Lumper Vs Splitter argument.

Besides, I think we can agree that Excited Episode Title! and Short Title: Long, Elaborate Subtitle are distinct concepts that can't be merged.

Yes, it's a lump/split argument. It's generally a good idea to vote on those. The titles we're talking about here literally are a short title with a long elaborate subtitle: it's the same but with exclamation points!

It isn't just exclamation points, but the general length, structure tone, and most of all purpose of the title.

[up]Agreed. These are neither the same trope, nor sufficiently similar tropes that they should be merged... and I say this as a card-carrying Lumper.

I think "Excited Title! Two Part Exclaiming Episode Name!" is best, but I think the "exclaiming" should be dropped, it makes it too long to conveniently write.

[up]If you have a name suggestion that isn't on the crowner, add it. Even if it's just a current name suggestion with a word added or removed, it's still a different name and should be treated as such.

I added it to the crowner for you. I agree that the "exclaiming" part is unnecessary. It's redundant with "excited" and only serves to lengthen the name.
