Homage to Nightmare Fuel:

1 Demetrios, Mon, 19th Mar '12 12:27:49 AM from Northbrook, Illinois
I know, you're probably thinking "What a strange thing to pay homage to :S" (even though it is one of the Tropes of Legend). There is a good reason for it, though. In my second volume, one of the main villain's avatars is based on his fear; that is, the fear he inspires in other people. To that end, the demonic minions he commands are based on the things that (in)famously scared us when we were kids. It seemed like an interesting theme to consider.

Humans inferior. Ultron superior.
That's not homage, it's just making use of the trope Nightmare Fuel in-universe.

Well, I recommend you take a look at Terry Pratchett's novel Hogfather for a very good use of Nightmare Fuel.

I suggest you pay a visit to your local library and get yourself a copy whenever possible. I believe that anyone should be familiar with Terry Pratchett. [lol] He's one of the more progressive fantasy writers out there.

Well, would you like to see at least one of the ideas I had, for shits and giggles? Pardon my French.

Here's a clip of it. Enjoy. :)

Not much had changed in Tornado Alley at first glance.
“Uh, guys, isn’t the Moon supposed to be spherical?” Aristotle asked as we landed.
“Yes, why do you ask?” Max replied.
“Then why does it have an arm?” the chimp said as he pointed to it. We looked up, and the thing in the sky certainly wasn’t the Moon. It looked like a demon’s face with a small mouth that was nonetheless filled with needle-like teeth. Small bony ridges rose between its sinisterly-shaped eyes, and on its left side an arm stuck out at an angle like a lizard’s foot, equipped with five sharp claws. It seemed like it was looking down on us, both literally and figuratively, with evil intent.
“That’s no Moon, ” Max said.
“I knew you were going to say that, ” Anna said with a chuckle.
“No, he’s telling the truth. That’s merely an illusion. I can sense the magic cast to create it, ” Lily said.

The system doesn't know you right now, so no post button for you.
You need to Get Known to get one of those.
