Needs Help (New Name Crowner Jan 18): Spank The Cutie get usage counts

Pronounced YAK-you-luss
[up]Which does raise some question about who, on this wiki, in 2012, would peg that sort of thing as a Crowning Moment of Heartwarming.

Eh, Internet people are weird. Especially the ones who seem to believe we're still living before the Internet got invented.

[up]Wait, who invented The Internet while I wasn't looking and didn't PM me about it?
The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything.

This post was thumped by the Stick of Off-Topic Thumping.
Stay on topic, please.

Wow. That was rude. Too many of this kind of thump will bring a suspension. Please keep it civil.Thumped.

psycher, this is your final warning. This page is broken in more ways than one and you're being actively disruptive.

Clocking due to lack of activity.

Soo... what should we do here, then?
Freedom of speech includes the freedom for other people to call you out on your bullshit.
Pick one?
  • Do nothing.
  • Rename (regardless of other choices).
  • Rewrite description, check examples for cleaning, but otherwise keep the page as is.
  • Soft split between fanservice and comedy versions of the trope.
  • Hard split between fanservice and comedy versions of the trope.
The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything.
Ecce Homo Superior
I support hard split between the comedy and the fanservice version.

And a rename is most definitely required.

[up]Maybe Comedic Spanking and Punishment As Fanservice?

Spanking As Comedy Spanking As Fanservice?

I would be loathe to use the word Punishment, since that covers way too many things. I fully expect more than a few female characters have received a Fan Service Pack as punishment by throwing out the clothes they loved and forcing them to get their hair cut.
Balance - the original sixth sense.

Random thought.

Is Spanking As Comedy used as a means of combining Spanking As Fanservice with Getting Crap Past the Radar?

[up]Certainly not automatically.

Sometimes it's just a case of one character treating another as an infant - done to a grown person, it's a pretty major insult.

even older skool
Such an example would probably be both, as I see no reason why they can't overlap. Comedy and fanservice are by no means mutually exclusive.

Like The Benny Hill Show.

Just as a side note, what do people think about the Playing With entry?

The Defied entry is a pretty weak example. A better example would be like in (IIRC) Heaven Help Us where one student is chased through the school by a disciplinarian whom he ultimately punches out.
Balance - the original sixth sense.

Calling crowner. Implement the two leading options.

We have consensus to rename and hard split. We need some name suggestions for both tropes.

Kinky Spanking? Fanservice Spank?

...Erm, it occurs to me that "spank" and "spanking" have an alternative meaning, too. ^^;

Corporal Punishment Spank? Punishment Spanking? Thats A Paddlin'?

Is this going to be renamed, or do we need to shelve this?

Bumping this to get it done. Is this hard split a trope split or just an example section split?

[up]I would suggest a hard trope split.

Do we need a crowner on new names?

Yeah.

Alternative Titles: Comedic Spank The Cutie

Vote up names you like, vote down names you don't. Whether or not the name will actually be changed is determined with a different kind of Crowner (the Single Proposition crowner). This one just collects and ranks alternative names.
At issue:
Previous crowner decided on a split between fanservice and comedic forms of this trope. This crowner is to choose the name for the comedic version of the trope. (Fanservice use was voted to be named as Kinky Spanking.)
