I don't think so, given that Lex is well known for being Bald of Evil.

How bout a picture of Mr. Clean?

^But Bald Of Awesome is a badass bald guy. Lex Luthor may be Bald of Evil, but he's also a badass bald guy.

I prefer the current image – it's not JAFAAAC in the same way that Blonde, Brunette, Redhead is not. He is bald, and despite never having seen any Star Trek, I can tell that he is awesome/badass/rocks.

Edit: In the one with Superman, he is bald but getting beaten = not so awesome.

Lex Luthor might demonstrate this trope some of the time, but not in that picture.

How can you tell that he's awesome? He's just a bald guy doing nothing. It doesn't show him getting beaten. It shows him fighting Superman.

The face (particularly the eyes) says awesome well enough that I get the point despite not having seen TNG. I do think that the image for this page should be something that does not overlap with one of the other baldness tropes, so no Bald of Evil or Bald Black Leader Guy.

How are you getting awesome from his eyes?

The same way that one reads any facial expression.

Except there is no expression there. None whatsoever. A facial expression is one or more motions or positions of the muscles in the skin.

Well I could go into great depth about the specifics of human facial perception, but this really isn't the time or place for that.

In all seriousness though this trope is more than just bald guy who happens to be awesome. The baldness must be part of what tells you, yes, this guy is a total badass. While Lex Luthor is bald in that picture, and he is being awesome, he does not demonstrate Bald Of Awesome there. Also, as I said before, it would be preferable to have a picture for this trope that does not overlap with other baldness tropes.

Then tell me, how does the baldness make him awesome. I'm guessing he's Picard? The only good pictures I can find for this one are anime (And I'm pretty sure Fast Eddie doesn't want to many of those), Bald Black Leader Guys, and Bald of Evil characters like Luthor. But that picture is JAFAAC, and saying otherwise is Fan Myopia.

Looking at the picture as someone who's never seen that version of Star Trek, I had no idea that he fit this trope. And after looking at some of the examples, if this isn't about Badass bald people, this trope is being misused.

I dunno, I think he looks determined, not expressionless. Current image is weak but best so far.

The obvious solution is to replace it with this

Current is weak (and possibly the result of rabid fans based on the paragraph I deleted just a while ago), but acceptable to me.

First of all, I fail to see how it is even possible to accuse those defending the image of falling into Fan Myopia when most of us have prefaced our defense by stating that we don't even watch the show.

As for actually answering your question, that's really one of those describing blue to a blind man type of things. Why does Samuel L Jackson's baldness make him look awesome? How about Vin Diesel? Why does Tom Selleck's mustache make him look awesome? It just does dammit! I guess it's one of those "you see it or you don't" things, although it seems like most everyone sees it.

I can't really believe this. This is like putting up a picture of Haruhi Suzumiya for Genki Girl, without showing her being a Genki Girl. From what people have been saying, he is a badass bald guy. But the picture doesn't show that.

And if the baldness has to be a part of what makes them badass, then this picture is probably unpicturable.

I wanted to avoid this, but since the Lex Luthor ones don't work...

Because I have a hard time that you guys are getting that he's awesome from that without first hand knowledge. Speaking as someone who hasn't watched the show and only knows the characters name and what he looks like... I don't see any determination, I don't see the awesome. I see Patrick Stewart standing there. I'm a fan of his, but that is Fan Myopia. The other picture doesn't show the awesome either.

It is not just Bald and Awesome.

And his baldness makes him awesome. He's already been listed on the Tropes page.

Moreover, you actually see him doing something. Preparing to fight with Angry Eyebrows and everything. That gets the awesome part of the trope across better, don't you think.
