When the last DLC came out for Assassin's Creed: Revelations, I went to download it but found that I couldn't add money into my account to buy it, first it claimed that it couldn't add the money but then it started showing an error code that I can't remember at the moment. This code also showed up when I went to buy something regardless of how much money I had. My current theory is that since the card I'm using (it's a pre-paid card) expires this month, that Sony is just really strict about that shit and once it hits March, it won't register. If there's a different reason or a way I can fix this, please let me know.

Also, can you please refrain from using this as a chance to either attack Sony or boast about how the 360 is better, I know a few of you like to do that. I'd post this on the Playstation forum itself but when I went there, I found that some of the users were huge assholes so maybe you will be more helpful.

Thanks

[up] The ratio of assholes to normal people is lower on tv tropes than any other forum. We're awesome like that.cool

If you could tell us the error code that would be really helpful, without it I'm not sure what to tell you though. Sorry.sad

Seriously, every code means something different, without I actually don't know what the problem is. Go do the thing that causes the code to appear, and write it down, and I promise to do the best I can to help.

Ok, the error code is 80023102. I've googled it but nothing helpful.

[up] According to this thread, other are having the same problem. I tried to make a purchase, but it worked fine for me. I don't use credit cards, only those little $20-$50 psn gift cards. I'll keep trying to find something to help.

The same thing has been happening to me since a few weeks ago. The only difference is my card doesn't expire for another 2 years. So frustrating.

Alright then, I'll give it a week or so, maybe it'll fix itself, I wouldn't really be annoyed by this if it didn't happen right at the time I'd actually want to buy something.

According to this thread

Adding cards to your PSN account does seem to be an issue for many people - PSN is very picky about the details being EXACTLY correct when verified with the card provider.

If you try too many times PSN will block your card (ONLY blocked with PSN, NOT for general buying stuff!) for 24 hours.

Best bet is to make absolutely certain that you type the info in correctly - which is not made easy by some card providers. Typical issues are extra spaces (especially if you have no middle name), or addresses which have (say) the town name on a different line to where you might expect it to be.

It's possible, this did start happening when I had to put in the new details of the money I'm using at the moment and if this 24 hour block thing also affects purchases then it could be the answer, I'll be adding more money to the card in a couple of days so that comes with new details so I'll just wait until then and see what happens.

Ok, got a new card with new details and it seems I'm still having the same problem, I'm not sure anymore if it's just Sony working on the network since it is doing maintanence at the moment. I'll try once more in 24 hours, then I think I should call them myself.

You said you were using a prepaid card? The operator I talked to about that when mine stopped working said he didn't think the company actually supported using them in certain areas (including California, apparently, but I can't confirm this). It most likely shut off that function for me, which may have happened to you.

He suggested switching to PSN gift cards.

It's possible but it would have had to been within the last couple of weeks since I was able to use money already in the account to buy FF XIII-2 DLC on the 13th, once I tried on the 29th, that's when this started happening. I would get a Playstation Network Card if I knew it was 100% sure to work, I'm just not sure of spending 20 Euro on a card that will be useless.

Well, if all else fails, you could buy the DLC from Amazon. (Assuming they have what you're looking for.)

That's where I make most of my purchases.
