The trope name is so much broader than the trope that it's misleading: the trope is not about all non-interactive things, but merely about things that appear interactive but aren't.
Fake Interactivity is good, though.
No, I would think Fake means it appears to be interactive, but it's not. I'm not quite sure how you could have fake interactivity in something that is otherwise interactive.
However I do think it's missing something in the title, because it absolutely must play on the viewer not knowing that the media isn't interactive.
Have parts that look like they are interactive, but are either not, or the interaction is minimal. Bonus points if the developers or marketers claim these parts are interactive.
Yes, I've seen that stuff before.
Come to think of it, I do remember some Shovelware that ended up doing that, or at least insinuated that there was far more interactivity than was actually in the final product. (One was a heist game that was like Myst, if Myst had exactly four puzzles)
As I mentioned in the Image Picking, I want to nuke the description. It's just annoying, to the point where I just close the page.
I agree with , though. I don't think it's an all that common trope. I don't think the name is the problem. Unless someone can come up with an awesome name, I don't think it will matter much.
Fake Interactivity would seem like a supertrope at the very least; it is the basic concept that something promises interactivity without actually being interactive.
This would be a subtrope specifically dealing with its use in kids' TV shows. Oh, and the description does need to be made less self-demonstrating. Ugh.
There should be no video game example. Those really are interactive. I think the main problem with the name is that it's ambiguous. Before I checked, I assumed it was for video games that were basically movies or story books and involved very little interaction. This is a real trope, but I don't like the name. Something like "pretend interactivity" gets the point across better.
Page Action: Non Interactivity

What would be the best way to fix the page?
Note the options below are not (necessarily) mutually exclusive.
37 (yeas:40 nays:3) 13.33 : 1
Swap with redirect, Fake Interactivity. This trope isn't just about non-interactive media (e.g. almost all movies are non-interactive by definition), it's about works that pretend to be interactive even though they're not (e.g. Dora the Explorer).
13 (yeas:15 nays:2) 7.50 : 1
Edit the trope header to make clear this is not only about shows for pre-school children; after all, Tropes Are Not Narrow. The page currently has numerous examples of 'older' shows.
-2 (yeas:5 nays:7)
Move the current version to Self Demonstrating namespace, and create a new version in the main namespace that's not self-demonstrating.
-5 (yeas:8 nays:13)
Rename, name to be decided in a separate crowner
-15 (yeas:0 nays:15)
Limit this trope to only shows for pre-school children, and remove all examples that don't fit.
