I'm going to have to check this out. Thanks for the heads-up!

There is also some stuff on wikipedia.
Discovered this loking for other Douglas Adams things in my public library's catalog. I was expecting more comedy-drama than straight comedy considering the one-hour format, but hilarious. Just watched the first two episodes. Or rather, the pilot and the first episode.
I was worried what they were going to do after the pilot since there were only two books to work from, but the second story spins out what was basically an offhand joke into a Macguffin.
I'd like to see them do the main plot of Long Dark Teatime of the Soul, but since they seem to be too grounded in reality to even 100% confirm time travel, I don't think we'll be seeing Thor and Valhalla any time soon.

Fresh-eyed movie blogAnyone been watching the BBC America adaptation? It's on Netflix now:
Dirk mentioned having met Thor in a throwaway comment to Todd.
I like this show a lot, but it really isn't much at all like Adams' books.
Not really, no. I'm not really a fan of Dirk being some kind of CIA Majestic 12/Men Who Stare at Goats secret project escapee instead of something more mundane. But I like what I've seen of the show all the same. Kind of feels like if somebody made a series based on Portal and Aperture Science.

Geez, it's already on Netflix? I thought it was still going.
Fresh-eyed movie blogI suspect Netflix saw it and thought 'This is so our thing' and put it in their catalogue as soon as it finished its first run on BBCA. They don't generally put together a trailer for shows they didn't make, so I'm wondering if they're in talks to continue it for a second season or something.

Is it on Netflix? Because if so, I don't see it.
P.S. The trailer posted earlier is apparently blocked too. (I'm in the US)
Edit: According to wikipedia, it is available on Netflix in every country except the US.

Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayYeah, I gather it's still streaming on BBC America in the US. My bad.
I just watched the pilot for the 2010-2 series, and it was interesting. One easter egg I noticed is that the first time you see Dirk's wall, it is covered in writing referring to the plot of the original book.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayThey use plot elements from the first book in at least two of the episodes, I think. The disappearance of Gordon Way in the pilot and Reason later.
Fresh-eyed movie blogThat'd be the pilot and second episode respectively (the pilot being the 'zeroth' episode). The BBC 4 series was funnier, and I actually preferred that version of Dirk himself, but the BBCA show has a look and feel that I really like.
Showing as Dirk Gently. Stars Stephen Mangan who apparently starred in Green Wing. May be of interest to the Douglas Adams fanbase out there. Starts in March.
