Wasteland 2:

LGBT panel? Really?

Is Avellone gay, or just a concerned activist? (Can't think of a good term to describe it, sorry)
I realized my signature's been empty for a while. I should fix that.
Jonah Falcon
No, he's straight.
Jonah Falcon
Chris Avellone isn't gay, why I know this probably means I've spent way too long reading interviews with the guy.

The panel seems to be specifically about transgendered people in games and the gaming industry. I have no idea what he'd be talking about since no Obsidian game has had transgendered people but he must have something to say else he wouldn't have signed up for it.

He's doing a number of other panels as well, one on DL Cs and another on the importance of balancing plot with gameplay and how writing can be integrated within the gameplay.

Jonah Falcon
Actually, you'd be wrong. Chris has penned a lot of LGBT stuff in games.

Jonah Falcon
I know he's done homosexual/Bisexual relationships (Gann's original concept being the big one) before but has he covered transgendered? Because that's what the panel is specifically about isn't it?

Well, it's LGBT, not T. tongue
The panel is specifically called "Press XY: Transgender Issues In Gaming"

News that Wasteland 2 can bring in Obsidian to help out has caused a bit of a surge. The Kickstarter is up to 1.85 million with another 15 days to go. That could very well become a reality.

Ruined Kingdoms has provided another chart on the kickstarter progress.

Eh, ignorance, Obsidian is the best thing to bring,

do people preffer Bethesda, or Bioware for that matter???

Bethesda is going too mainstream with Skyrim, and Bioware is hated for ME 3 ending

Obsidian can make a single SIDEQUEST, with multiple branchescool

New Chris Avellone interview. Apparently Obsidian's Onyx engine will not be used for Wasteland 2.
Lord of Castamere
I hope thay can get to 2.1m... It isn't growing as fast lately. They still need about 230k.

Instead, I have learned a horrible truth of existence...some stories have no meaning.

I expect there to be a surge on the last day, as with the other Kickstarters. Besides, there' still the Paypal and NMA money to be considered.

Yet another interview with Fargo. He sounds pretty damn confident they'll hit the goal. evil grin Seeing as they broke $1.9 million today ($150, 000 of which is from the last four days!), I'd say that confidence is well-founded.

Another interview!

I'm supposed to get paid in the next few days. I'm totally donating $150 to the project. And I'm glad Obsidian is planning to do one of these as well. Honestly, give Avellone, Sawyer, Fargo and the rest of the former Black Isle crew no publishers to screw with their schedules and force them to release games so quickly and they WOULD be known for makers of awesome games.

Well, more awesome games that didn't break. I'm sure New Vegas would have been bug free if they didn't have to make it in 11-13 months.

Even still it eventually got patched pretty nicely.

Indeed. These poor guys have been stepped on the system though.I think Kickstarter is going to bring these devs the best opportunities of their lives: to make a video game without the beauracracy.

(But sir, how will maintain the systems without the beauracracy!?)

Dungeon Siege III is proof that Obsidian can deliver a polished product when they don't have a publisher breathing down their necks. Only good can come of this.smile

Mothership online...also adorable
Yeah Squeenix seems to be more resasonable than some other publishers...I think that in this case without publisher whatsoever they can easily spend time to polish it...as long as their budget holds out that is...

Das kann doch nicht sein!

They did have a publisher breathing down their necks. Or did Square Enix turn into a fisher club when I didn't look?
People aren't as awful as the internet makes them out to be.
