War ALWAYS changes. Man does not.
$590 US or Australian dollars is a helluva lot of money for a desktop. I seriously could build you one that will run most recent games, save Crysis, at good framerates for around or just over half of that. And have. This bad boy. For that full whack, even an idiot like me could also source you a monitor with at least a 24" screen in full HD and the ability to run Crysis.

You just need to look in the right places at the right times and computer kit can be had for much much less than retail. My box that I am using just now would have cost at least 800 pounds from a shop, pre-built.

Eh... building your own computer is cheaper than most think, but it's still pretty expensive. I haven't been able to piece together a decent one for less that 800 bucks.

But I don't think Wasteland 2 is going to be that graphics intensive, anyway.

The price also depends on the country :/

But yes, I doubt Wasteland 2 will be requirement intensive.
Instead, I have learned a horrible truth of existence...some stories have no meaning.
NZ$800 is what my gaming box cost me. Though that's slightly cheaper thanks to my mate having a business that builsd P Cs. So maybe it'd cost more than that. I spent a wad on my 27" monitor though, plus upgrading my keyboard and mouse.

How far through the process is Wasteland 2?

Pretty early, probably. They just got funded like a month ago.

True that. Feels like longer...

I blame Diablo 3.

Eh... building your own computer is cheaper than most think, but it's still pretty expensive.

It's mostly because while you can build a better computer for the same price as a pre-built one or get a functionally identical one for less, most people with enough tech savvy to do so want a better one.

Definitely a slight Catch-22 there, you are quite correct.

Thing is, when you build your own pc, you know exactly what software and hardware is in the thing. If you buy a pre-built one, you do not have knowledge of either.
I agree. Bloatware sucks! I guess some of us are luckier than others, with regards to either knowing that stuff ourselves or having friends who can fill in the gaps.

[up]I will tell you this much. If I can learn how to build a computer and get the bastard connected to a broadband account, anyone can. Because previously my most techy thing was learning how to strip and assemble assault rifles. . .
[up] Yeah, I learned because all my mates pointed out how easy it was.

I can't field-strip a weapon though. Well, not yet...
VISION FUCKING DOCUMENT! (requires google/youtube account)

It includes a modernised concept art of the original box cover for WL 1 which might possibly be the cover for WL 2.

Holy shit this is going to be awesome.

I might be spamming this thread with awesome stuff that makes me happy from the document.

Whooo!
4 Rangers and 3 companions. Party of 7 sounds like great fun.

Have a new wallpaper

I'm reading that document and I like what it says about its RPG-ness and how the party works. I will be buying this.

Pretty cool looking.
The female ranger looks badass.
The giant robo-scorpion looks freaking wicked.

I think I might just have to get this.

Well, now i'm even more hyped.
If you wanna PM me, send it to my mrsunshinesprinkles account; this one is blorked.
Wasteland 1 will come with all copies of WL2

Guess now we know why Fargo has been in deals with EA despite trashing publishers throughout WL 2's kickstarter.

Good. It'll be nice to be able to legally play it some way without scrounging around for some insanely rare collection of games I've never heard of that just happens to include a port of Wasteland.

Ya beauty. Now I can see for myself where the love for the original game came from. /issues a low level, dignified squee.

Well, Wasteland has been free abandonware for a decade (since it's about 700K.) hehe

[up]Yeah, but hopefully the one bundled with W2 will actually work on windows 7 64-bit without sacrificing goats to the dosbox gods.grin
I always feel guilty when I have to sacrifice my adorable goats to any gods, really.

As someone who never got enough playtime on the original Wasteland (and dislikes sacrificing goats), I welcome this inclusion.
First Alpha Screenshot of the game

I like it, needs more detail with the textures but I'm sure they'll add that in as they continue working at it.

Heck even if it isn't detailed enough it's something that modders can easily fix.
