Most profound Flash game you ever played???

There were three flash games I found to had an impact on me in terms of certain factors.

  • Gretel and Hansel The second game especially for its interesting story. Despite the Grimmification and gore, it still maintained a certain dark humor that made all the deaths more amusing than horrifying. Yet it still kept a few heart touching moments to show the game wasn't just about trying to survive and being killed.

  • The Company of Myself: A simple game yet with an interesting perspective on isolation and great loss. The soundtrack is awesome too (downloaded it on my ipod)

  • Dibbles: The Greater Good: It's the music that makes this game, probably more than the story for me. I was more concerned listening to the beautiful orchestrals than actually playing.

Technically, it's probably The Majesty Of Colors. That said, this amateurish but well-intentioned game is still what I use to argue games as art—maybe not great art yet, but at least art that has the potential to someday be great.

FPA: World 2. I've probably played other good flash games, but this one's my favorite. As well as Upgrade Complete, Epic Battle Fantasy, Pico's School, Level Up!, Newgrounds Rumble, Castle Crashing The Beard, etc

Oh, are you talking about impact? Well...

ROBOT UNICORN ATTACK

GRRRR BAM BAM BAM

ONLY GOD KNOWS I'M INNOCENT

MUST GET HIGH SCORE

Robot Unicorn Attack was a simple yet surprisingly effective idea. The random map generation meant that it could be played almost indefinitely, and the simple but effective competitive appeal (get the highest score to see whose e-peens is bigger!) really made the game enjoyable.

I am not kidding, I have spent hours just to see if I could get past 50/100/120k.

"Profound"?

...While it's tempting to name games the likes of One Chance, but I'd prefer to name something I actually enjoyed: Today I Die.

even though i havent actually read it, the fact that the post began with "ROBOT UNICORN ATTACK" compells me to agree with what nizbel says.

(btw, what exactly does the op mean by profound? profound as in meaningful or profound as in "i enjoyed the fuck outta this"?)

The latter, hopefully. Flash games don't really get profound.

Stick War. It's pretty fun. There all differnt units you have fight each other, you can upgrade them, ect. Probablly the best I've played in a while. A seqel is in the works too, and it looks AWESOME. It has an actually decent AI from the look of thing too.

Although it isn't really a full game, exploring the map and finding all the hidden stuff in [S] John: Enter village was pretty fun.

[S]Seer:Descend and [S]Past Karkat: Wake up. were also good. albiet less for the exploration and more for the banter and music and trying to find every bit of dialogue you can.

the latter can keep you occupied for over an hour.

[S] Seer: Descend is amazing mainly because the music is one of the best tracks in the entire comic. There isn't actually much to do in it though.

i mainly liked the interaction between john and rose in it. especially when rose starts smothering herself with the random pillow.

Omg, I didn't even know that One Chance had a tropes page! I second that one, so much. Like the page says, it's not the feel-good game of the year.

Others include Air Pressure, although that mostly comes from the interpretations of the symbolism of the plot more than the game itself. tongue

I <3ed a game on Kongregate called... was it Music Catch 2? The beauty of the music and the visuals combined with the simple gameplay had a profound effect on me.

I liked it better when Questionable Casting was called WTH Casting Agency

My brother suggests Madrid, a game about the Madrid train bombings in 2004. It has no win condition. (Or so he tells me)
