Alright, I've drafted a proposed definition here. I used that triangle since it's the only effective way to display the "comparative" nature of the description I propose.
EDIT: Added my proposal to the crowner.
But if that doesn't work and we still can't agree on it I could make a new crowner that just picks out each of the problems one by one, since the multiple ways of fixing the page just boil down to individual issues.
For the sake of clarity, can we please drop that page image, or at least alter it to be more accurate? I don't like the idea of using strength and toughness as synonyms for offense and defense which have a much broader definition. We should be consistently using the same terminology throughout the trope.
Calling the crowner, but the new description needs work.
Rather than starting out with a paragraph listing all of the the things that the Lightning Bruiser is not, it would be clearer to start with a description of a Lightning Bruiser. Then jump into the comparisons.
The description is heavily weighted toward gaming but there are examples from other media. It would help if we could make the description less media specific.
We never go any where without our swords and boas.
It looks like we need Special Efforts to clean this up. The page is just too big for me to handle alone, and I am unable to fix most of the examples to make it conform to the definition we hammered out. The most I can do is just mesh all of the examples together.
I'd like to do that, but from look at the whole page, the vast majority of examples don't conform to the new description. And I can't fix most of them because I've never seen most of the works the examples are in.
I would like to note that someone created Stronger Than They Look in late Novemeber without consulting the YKTTW draft at all. Just because said draft had gone dormant for three months is no excuse for someone to unilaterally create an article on their own, especially when they didn't even bother using the draft's material, right?
Where there is Distress, therein lies a Story. Where there is a Story, therein lies a Will. Where there is a Will, therein lies a Soul.
