Wouldn't that count as an image duplicate if it's on two pages, even if one of them is Just for Fun?
The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything. And it fails the Tropes Are Not Bad requirement (part of why the picture on Running the Asylum was pulled).
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. Now technically, the image doesn't say anything "bad" about the trope. It's only the reader's preexisting knowledge that Anne Frank is real and that her story is too serious to be Disneyficationed that makes the concept into Dude, Not Funny!.
There was an entire shitstorm of people feeling offended by the very existence of the Anne Frank Disney page. An image based on it is a bad idea.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerOh indeed, but not because of any particular rule so much as the more general "don't start a shitstorm"
Voting against. Duplicate image, and kind of Dude, Not Funny!.
It does not matter who I am. What matters is, who will you become? - motto of Omsk BirdI really don't see anything inherently bad about making a Disney movie about it.
Probably not a good idea if people are sore about it, though.
The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything. For reference, this is the thread. I wouldn't want us to face an uproar with this image.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerNo, no, no, not that one, anything but that one. How about a comparison shot between a scene from The Hunchback Of Notre Dame and the Disney version?
Hmm, shame about that Anne Frank one. It nicely gets the trope through one image, but apparently it's out.
We can get this done in one image, though using an actual Disney example probably won't work, since most of those are more well-known than their source.
That *is* a rule, though.
Belief or disbelief rests with you.Actually, according to Doug Walker's actual review of the movie (not as The Nostalgia Critic), it wasn't really done as much as it would seem. The marketing and hype for the movie did make it look like that. It's part of the reason my family and I had no interest in seeing it.
Take this print ad for it.◊ Although that would make for a good image.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. The Anne Frank Image is already on the Just for fun page. We don't do duplicate images. Simple.

I don't see how that was rude but w/e

Also, saying the Anne Frank one is a duplicate could alternatively be used as a reason to remove it as a page image from its own works page instead.
That said, juxtaposing Disney-HOND with something more faithful to the original HOND would probably be better anyway, as it's more directly indicative, not to mention involves Disneyfication of another fictional story rather than a real one.

"The Daily Show has to be right 100% of the time; FOX News only has to be right once." - Jon StewartThat page's picture is more neutral satire, as it's not implying it's automatically bad or not, just really different.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.I get a bit of a "deconstructive" vibe from it, though.
"The Daily Show has to be right 100% of the time; FOX News only has to be right once." - Jon StewartRather than the Anne Frank picture, I'd prefer us to go with a ludicrously trivialised children's movie that actually exists, like Anastasia or those two Titanic cartoons (Titanic The Legend Goes On and the even more Disneyfied The Legend Of The Titanic).
Actually, didn't this trope use to have a picture from one of the Titanic cartoons, or did I just dream that?

It does not matter who I am. What matters is, who will you become? - motto of Omsk BirdI do like the idea of using the Titanic animated film.
Rhymes with "Protracted."His about we take a scene from James Cameron's Titanic of Rose losing, or starting to lose, Jack in the frozen water, and put it next to the picture from Titanic: The Legend Goes On of Angelica marrying what's-his-name?

I don't know, I feel like people are already aware of what happened to the Titanic. It's why it's at Foregone Conclusion.
You know, those are extreme cases, and still are trying to say that this is an inherently bad trope.
I know a neutral picture would be hard to find, but something like those infamous cases would definitely be trying to ignore that Tropes Are Tools, even this one.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. What about two pictures of the ending of The Little Mermaid?
Original sad ending, Disney ending◊, and there could be a caption "Bittersweet Ending, or Happy Ending? Take your pick."

If anyone watches The Nostalgia Chick, she briefly commented in her video about terrible Disney sequels about what it would be like if there was a Disney version of Anne Frank. And it was accompanied by the following image.
It even has its own (Just for Fun) page.
