Am I the only one watching this thing on the PSN Store? (even though I'm only watching it for Egoraptor)

For those uninformed, The Tester is a Reality Show distributed on the Play Station Network by Sony. It can be So Bad, It's Good or So bad it's Horrible sometimes.

Last Season they had 8-bit Mickey as the fan-voted person along a cast of posers and a couple gamers. The basic Idea is that the winner of the thing gets to work at Sony as a Game Tester. Seriously.

This Season's viewer-gaining internet personality is Egoraptor, of Awesome Series fame. And he's hilarious. DISCUSS!

First off, I've read enough stuff to know that game testing isn't what it's cracked up to be.

Second off, I find it funny that they say Egoraptor is not taking it seriously, when the very first challenge they did was conducting an interview with their heads inside a box of cockroaches.

Game testing is still a way to really get your foot in the door in this industry. Experience doing it at a major studio, doubly. So, the work itself isn't so much the reward as the experience.

Personal highlight: Ego saying that "he's bringing the viewers" is the exact reason they can't boot him off. Either the man just got lucky, or he's trolling them because he knows he's immune for at least half the season just for how many viewers he brings. The faces of the panel when they clearly thought they should get him off the house, but they can't.

He has Joker Immunity

Working as a game tester? Wow, talk about hating your audience.

It would be hilarious if Egoraptor wins, but rejects the job anyway. [lol]

As for the show itself, most of the challenges don't seem to have much to do with gaming itself. The cockroach interview was nothing short of disgusting, and felt more like an episode Fear Factor than, say, what a reality show involving games would probably be like. The Twisted Metal-themed challenge in the next episode seems even worse.

the best part should be sony trying to make Game tester look like anything except a hellish job nobody in their right mind willingly signs up for.

The best part is the every test is only slightly, tangentially related to gaming or anything applicable. I honestly don't know who in their right mind would sign up for something that bad. Well, we know Ego is certifiably insane, so that's one thing. And Mickey last year seemed to just chill through the whole thing.

You'd think they'd go with a format similar to that old Nick Arcade show(e.g. video game competitions, anything that's actually related to the subject), but what we got was... this.

I'm still gonna watch it, mostly to get more moments of Ego being hilarious and loud. Like when that dude came out of the test and he was like "OH MY GOD MAN HI!!!" and proceeded to run into him and hug him.

That was just hilarious.

I wonder if they did the same as last year where they planted an actor to play the drama-inducing douchebag.

It seems like they're trying to make Egoraptor look like "the bad guy."

Sucks, but now they're losing 90% of their viewers. Idiots.

You know what kills me? The judges rip on the fact that Egoraptor went to get more ammo for his teammates, the logical solution, but they told him he had to actually teach the aforementioned teammates how a slingshot works. But five minutes earlier, they ripped on Suskaiden for doing the exact same thing they told Egoraptor to do!

Yep. The rest of the contestants seemingly trying to be as unlikable as possible doesn't help.

Last season, I kept watching after mickey went off mostly because there were some actually funny people there, and that Big Fazeek guy (*coughprofessionalhiredactorcough*) was too much fun not to watch.

There seems to be a lot of stuff going on in the background that we did not see. I suspect that Ego Raptor was scripted to get kicked off as early as possible for drama reasons. I think Sony (Or whoever runs this thing) kind of screwed up when they allowed a wild card on the show.

To be honest, it was a Lose/Lose situation for Egoraptor. I'm sure in some alternate universe where he helped his teammates with the slingshot, he would've still been eliminated because he didn't get enough ammo! Well, at least I still have Skyd1ddy to root for. After all, he's still in DA BELLY OF DA BEAST.
