de Blob

That series that had two games and will probably never get another, de Blob.

The first one on the Wii was fantastic, in my humble opinion which is always right except when it's wrong which it never is. It was this brilliant game where you played as a blob of paint and painted up a dull, grey colorless city to overthrow a communist ink thing. The game had fantastic music, a delightfully charming art style, and gameplay that was just pure fun. Somehow sold welle enough to warrant enough a sequel.

de Blob 2, now on PS 3 and 360 as well as Wii, was released just last year. I bought it over the summer, but I really haven't been able to get into it. I just beat the second level a few minutes ago, and honestly, the game isn't that good so far. I barely even remember the first level, since I played that one months ago, but the second level was just kinda eh. The first one was more "hey, here's a big area of white stuff, go paint it." This one's more focused which I'm finding doesn't really benefit de Blob at all. Every few minutes Pinky has to pop up to tell me what to do. It's kind of annoying. And there are those 2D sections that just aren't anything to get excited about. They're just kind of dull.

It's not by any means a bad game, but the first was so wonderful and majestic. Why am I enjoying the second one so much less? Is there something wrong with me? Or is the second one really just not that good? Or are all the following levels going to be the most amazing thing I've ever played? it just kind of saddens me, because I absolutely loved the first one, and I love the style of the characters and their world, but based on what I've played I have no real desire to keep going.

I personally like de Blob 2 better since you don't have to swing the Wii Remote to jump.

Aaw, for a moment I thought it was going to be a game about The Blob.
