I'd been reading a lot of Thomas Ligotti right before I became pretty ill back when I was a freshman in high school. I had also read offhand that the man's favourite album was King Crimson's debut—God knows where. Cue me having "In the Court of the Crimson King" on loop in my head in the middle of the night whilst having borderline fever hallucinations.
Also, a conversation about Walter Westinghouse is never complete without a mental soundtrack of The Gerbils' "The Battle of Electricity". Horns, please...

I'll hide your name inside a word and paint your eyes with false perception. Some time ago I remember this chain of earworms happening:
- 1) I hear Buffalo Springfield's "For What It's Worth" somewhere and get it stuck in my head.
- 2) I remember Skee-lo's "I Wish" because part of it slightly misquotes the chorus of "For What It's Worth"("hey you, what's that sound? Everybody look what's goin' down") and get that stuck in my head.
- 3) I also remember Les Rhythms Digitales' "(Hey You) What's That Sound?" because it sampled that exact part of the above Skee-lo song, so I get that in my head.

Earth is the only planet inhabitable by Nicolas Cage. The only songs that get stuck in my head are songs that don't exist
You can't even write racist abuse in excrement on somebody's car without the politically correct brigade jumping down your throat!Well, that is strange.
no one will notice that I changed thisHave you written any down?
nope
You can't even write racist abuse in excrement on somebody's car without the politically correct brigade jumping down your throat!DO IT. You might be the next Paul Mc Cartney. Or the next Shaggs. We'll never know unless you try.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.I just got Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band stuck in my head because the car's indicator has the same beat as it.
In our heart, Mr. Ando will always be a penguin.See, with me that usually reminds me of the demo mode on a tiny Yamaha keyboard I had when I was little. (That melody...forever burned in my brain, that annoying, repetitive, unceasing unless you turn it off melody.)
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.A friend says something about psychos > I instantly get Psycho Killer by Talking Heads stuck in my head despite that fact that I'm not even a fan of the band. Wtf, brain?
I watched a To Aru Majutsu No Index with the song "You Spin Me Right Round" as the BGM. It will never leave my head.
I guess getting non-existent rearrangements of songs in your head would probably be related. The only specific example I have is with a song no one has ever heard of: "If You Want A Mustache" by Space Balloons: the original = ukulele-based kids music, the imaginary cover that ended up in my head = ska with an organ part (think The Specials' version of "Pressure Drop").
Oh, and due to mashups I have personally made, I'll always associate Snoop Dogg's "Drop It Like It's Hot" with Weezer's "Beverly Hills" and Big Freedia's "Azz Everywhere" with Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song".

Earth is the only planet inhabitable by Nicolas Cage.Being curious about new games, I came across some clips from Battlefield 3. And, lo and behold!, I stumbled into a part of the game's campaign that happened to include the biggest earworm I've ever heard - Solomon's Theme. It's not even anything special, but I can't get that tune out of my head!
Please don't feed the trolls!Songs often get stuck in my head when I associate them with certain movies. For example, "Oh, 'The Gift of a Friend' reminds me of How To Train Your Dragon!" BAM, in my head.
Looking for some stories? On that note, half the time when I see/hear the phrase "in my head" or the word head, I think of the Jason Derulo song "In My Head". I blame my sister. And classical conditioning.
Also, the word "see" sometimes makes me start singing 'See Me, Feel Me' by The Who.
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.listening to The Fall just got Linkin Park in my head. You see, while the song "Greenway" is an "adaptation" of a song by a Greek metal band, I knew there had to be some other reason the riff sounded familiar. Then I realized it also sounded just a little like "One Step Closer". The idea of Mark E. Smith delivering that "shut up when I'm talking to you!" breakdown is pretty funny.

Earth is the only planet inhabitable by Nicolas Cage.Okay, great, now I got a modified version of "Friday" in my head by trying to figure out what day of the week a certain date was going to be ("yesterday was Monday, Monday, to-day it is Tuesday, Tuesday").
