This thread is for general discussion of page quotes, whether to change, move or remove them.
Unused quotes should be put on a Quotes Wiki page (just replace the namespace in the URL of the wiki page you are making a quotes page for with Quotes/) or, if they don't have an article, on Quotes Looking for an Article.
Image captions are discussed elsewhere and have their own thread in the Image Pickin' forum.

On Laser Blade, the quote doesn't do anything to be about the trope. It's just a reference to it. On Elegant Weapon for a More Civilized Age it's at least pertinent to the trope.
Thus, remove it from Laser Blade.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI suggest this quote for Laser Blade.
->"This toasts bread while you are slicing it." —>— Trillian, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Duct Tape for Everything currently has two page quotes, and neither one of them is all that good. There are a number of far better quotes on the quotes page. My favorites are the Burn Notice one, and the Mythbusters one, but obviously it would be a good idea to get more opinions.
Bigotry will NEVER be welcome on TV Tropes.I'm with you on neither of the current ones being that good. The Burn Notice one is great, though I also like the Marvel vs. DC and Brian Lambert ones.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.I think the first quotation on the page is better than the Burn Notice one. I don't like that one at all. The MythBusters one is great. The "unknown" in the middle also works.

Check out my fanfiction!re: proposal for Laser Blade: I think that could work (although I'm not sure that lasers would actually toast bread... )
re: Duct Tape for Everything: I like the Mythbusters quote best for the page. I agree with Duck that the Burn Notice one isn't great.
Switched the Laser Blade quote.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)So consensus seems to be that the Mythbusters one is best. I'll swap them out then.
Bigotry will NEVER be welcome on TV Tropes. So how should we play things with Dystopia Justifies the Means? It has two page quotes, and whilst the 1984 one is not a duplicate of the one on Despotism Justifies the Means, they're from the same speech (in which O'Brien discusses the nature of the Party). I'm not sure if that muddies the waters a bit between what are two distinct tropes.
What's precedent ever done for us?I am inclined to use the 1984 quote in both places. The Despotism Justifies the Means is definitively talking about the Party (and thus the despotism) while Dystopia Justifies the Means talks about the world (and thus the dystopia). Never mind that the other quote in Dystopia Justifies the Means talks about people, which seems closer to Despotism and not Dystopia to me.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanAgreed. (I seem to be saying that a lot on this thread... )
"Save the World" Climax has a quote and Quotes/ page that refers to Saving the World, a different trope.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI'd say cut them.
(Also, on a different note: why is there a series folder on that page?)
The Scrounger currently has two page quotes. I'm partial to the first one because it seems a little bit clearer to non-fans. What do the rest of you think?
Bigotry will NEVER be welcome on TV Tropes.Pick the first quote. The second makes no sense.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanPlus one for first.
Check out my fanfiction!Another vote for the first one.
Executed.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI wonder if we could use this quote or a variant of it somewhere on Memetic Mutation or its quotes page: ->"Those should be chainsawed with a passion because meme's are never as wide spread as the person spreading them thinks they are." —>— shimaspawn, about memes on TV Tropes.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanHe Who Fights Monsters is awfully long. Does anyone have any better quote?
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerThere is a nice selection on the Quotes/ tab.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanIt seems to me the Nietzsche quote does it, then.
>"He who fights monsters should see to it that he himself does not become a monster. And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you." —>— Friedrich Nietzsche, Beyond Good and Evil
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerYeah, pick Nietzsche.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman
Laser Blade and Elegant Weapon for a More Civilized Age have the same quote.
As tempting as it is to change the latter to the spoof joke from Bored of the Rings, I think there's got to be something better than that.
