I would really like some feedback for the character designs of my superhero and super villain. I'll give you the link for the designs and a description of the characters. Keep in mind that these are for a lighthearted comic, so it's not super-realistic. Also, I know I'm not the best artist, I'm mainly concerned with the design.

Hero: http://kamikamiya.deviantart.com/art/Luna-and-Sky-Girl-263752717?q=gallery%3Akamikamiya%2F2932019&qo=33 Age: 23 Height: 5'11'' Body Type: I was going for tall and gangly, but I drew her shoulders too wide. Race: Quarter Italian, Quarter Japanese, Quarter German, and another quarter of either Italian or German. Hence the red hair, Asian eyes, and olive skin Costume Description: The costume is made of spandex, while the scarf is made from some sort of cloth material with a wire running through it to keep it stiff. The belt is a regular belt with a metal buckle with a stylized "S" design on it

Feedback Questions: 1. Does she look too much like a hipster, because she isn't one. 2. Did I subconsciously rip-off a part of her design from someone else? 3. Color choice, particularly on the boots, belt, and jacket. 4. Does she look her appropriate age and race? 5. Is the scarf too ridiculous to work as a superhero outfit?

Villain: http://kamikamiya.deviantart.com/art/Lord-Blackethorne-264999867?q=gallery%3Akamikamiya%2F2932019&qo=31 Height: 6'4'' Build: Supposed to be a little muscular at the top. Costume Description: For the cape, I wanted to a cross between Dr. Strange and an opera cape. The material it's made out of is actually very light, so it flows easily. The shirt underneath is puffy and as a drawstring front. The pants are leather. I was going for a lionesque hairstyle, but I'm not sure it came out the way I wanted it to. I'm especially not sure I he has enough bangs. Also, his face should be narrower, and I'm pretty sure his legs should be longer considering his height. Feedback Questions: 1. Is the design too childish and or too plain?

Sky-Girl:

1) I don't think she looks too much like a hipster. On the topic of clothes, I just wanted to mention that her jacket is maybe a bit too greenish, and it clashes with her bag; I'd recommend that you eyedrop the colour of the collar and choose something darker in the same range to get a colour for the "leather" that doesn't have as much green in it, if that makes sense. Apart from that, I like her "casual" outfit.

2) Not that I can tell.

3) Oops, I should have talked about the jacket here. Anyway I'll do the super costume instead. All-blue matches her theme and everything, and it's good that you're using adjacent colours because that makes the whole ensemble more harmonious, but it'd benefit from the addition of a complementary colour to make it pop. Just on sight, I'd probably pick a yellow-orange colour - like her hair, but lighter and more yellow - and accent the boots, the belt and the gloves. If you wanted you could also use a much darker blue on the same areas, like the colour of her jeans in her "normal" persona, or a white. Limited colours are great for making an outfit iconic, though, so that's good.

4) Yes.

5) Have a look at face-scarves and study the way they drape and flow, because the scarf has the potential to look very badass. However, how does she keep people from grabbing the trailing end during a fight?

All in all, I like her, and I like her name too.

I'm not really sure what your story's atmosphere is going to be. If it's very campy and Silver Age-y and fun, your villain's character design is fine. Reading his description, I think the design does fit his personality. So that's good too! I like it! Go online, resource, and build up a big library of melodramatic poses for us to laugh at, and it'll be great.

Hope this helps.

Okay so this ended up getting moved, I'll just respond to the villian here.

Longer legs would probably help to make him look taller in the future because I can't really tell just from looking at him that he's supposed to be taller than Sky.

Responding to the question, the costume comes off like he's trying a bit too hard to be a badass wizard. I also get a bit of an Ascended Fanboy vibe from him. As you described his personality as a Large Ham, this works.

It is simple and that's not necessarily a bad thing. It has a good color scheme and since you used complimentary colors, none of them are clashing. Play with that cape, I see him being the type of person to just constantly be fiddling around with it and trying to make it swish and flow.

I don't have any suggestions for how to make it stand out more, I feel like adding more details to it would make the outfit too complicated.

I'm going to second what Yuval said about melodramatic poses. Exaggerate with him as much as you can. Contorted facial features as he laughs, scrunching over and grinning as he plots, stuff like that.

Also in response to the points you made on Sky/Luna on the other forum, 4. All of those seem like they'd work! 5. Making the scarf two detachable pieces does solve that choking hazard so that's good, and 6. Ascended Fangirl then, fun! It's an in character and in story reason for the costume so that works.

Thank you for all of the feedback! I've made some minor changes to both outfit's

Luna's jacket is greener (Which is the complete opposite of some advice I got, I know, but I think it looks better) and her choker is black.

Sky-Girl's costume is a little brighter and I changed the color of the belt.
