It took me a moment to realize this was a reference to a gameplay mechanic from Metal Gear Solid 3.

Laconically, this is about mostly cosmetic acts of medical care performed to give the appearance that some kind of medical aid is being applied - like applying stitches to a wound without doing anything else.

Might I suggest Band Aid On A Bullet Wound?

[up] I don't like that name. It reminds me of the Red Vs Blue ep where one of the characters is given CPR for a gunshot wound to the head and it works. It just sounds like it's about either the wrong treatment for an injury or too little care for an injury.

The tropes seems to be "doing stuff that looks medical-y despite the fact that most such things aren't actually very helpful in first aid situations". Superficial Medical Treatment? Superficial First Aid? Superficial First Aid Treatment? Something along those lines?

Also needs some crosswicking. It's not listed on anything except indexes and supertropes.

This trope doesn't have YKTTW, barely has the required amount of examples, the name is plain bad, and the description is a horror to read. Shouldn't we throw this to YKTTW directly, or cut?

We have a lot of tropes about video game healing. I don't see how we need yet another one, yet alone one with a poor name, description, and few wicks.

I'm going to put up a separate thread about this habit we have of taking tropes launched without YKTTW and treating them as potentially valid rather than cutting them on sight.

I agree with Dr. McNinja. This thing deserves a full redo.

We have a lot of tropes about video game healing.
...and this isn't one of them. This is a subtrope of Worst Aid, when the minor, cosmetic things that are normally done last (like splinting a broken limb or stitching a laceration) is the first (and sometimes only) thing a medic character does. It has nothing to do with video game mechanics besides the name (which is terrible, and should be changed), and it's definitely trope-worthy — we see this one all the time.

I suspect this is a result of Show, Don't Tell. Fixing a bone is more visually obvious (and cringe inducing) than some of the other things.

Well, as I said, either it's thrown back to YKTTW or it's simply cut. There are no other actions we should consider about this. I'm with Fighteer about this, we shouldn't be trying to fix every page like this one. If they are tropes they'll appear in YKTTW.

I'm for cut to YKTTW. Looks like a legit trope, just very poorly-made.

Looks like most of the support is for re-YKTTWing. Should we go ahead and do that, or do we need a crowner?

The reason it had no YKTTW is that it was a product of splitting You Fail Your Medical Boards Forever.

Was anything ever done with this, or do we still need to re-YKTTW it?

Wait, this thread suggested to send the page back to YKTTW, but it's actually still there.

You mean the Select Stitch At The Survival Menu? Yeah, that never got cutlisted. I'm not entirely sure what the order of operations is, here — do we wait until the new YKTTW is ready before cutting the old page, or do we cut it now and let YKTTW do its thing after?

Well, we decided to move it back to YKTTW, and it is in YKTTW, so the current trope page should be cut, no? I've cutlisted it, linking to this thread.
