Just strikes me as wrong.: Reverse Shazam

It's the opposite of I Am Not Shazam (which I might take on later, but not now), but at least that name had some context. This could be the inverse of Older Alter Ego, or the inverse of By the Power of Grayskull!, or something like that.

So I say at least we should have a title that's actually an example, like "The Show Is Not Called (Main Character)".

And it's not a healty trope with just 43 wicks, and 5 inbounds as of this post edit.

I think there is a pretty decent argument for renaming Reverse Shazam as well. I think the "I Am Not" part of I Am Not Shazam helps make that title more easily understood, but Reverse Shazam seems to require knowledge of what I Am Not Shazam means, which I would guess is leading to some disuse.

Plus, the stuff you mentioned about Shazam being associated with more than one trope/idea seems like pretty good reasoning to me too. Still, I would definitely like to hear other people weigh in about this trope.

That's also a point against the name. I just stated it in too few words.

I support a rename. Possibly to something like Iconic Character, Forgotten Title.

I concur. Even if you don't know the comic "Shazam", then "I am not Shazam" still makes a kind of sense, but this Snow Clone does not.

Well, the trope is "people mistaking a word for a Character Title", right? So Not Actually Character Title or something like that?

It's one of those tropes that's almost like a double negative; you really have to parse it to make sense of the name.

And it sounds like the trope should be something like "A magic word that turns a superhuman into a normal person" (yeah, I know "Shazam!" does both, but....)

BTW, do we have that trope? There are other legit examples.

Dangit, yes, I think we do, at least sort of. I remember looking at it, or at least a YKTTW about it that I think went through, but I'm blanking on the name.

Ah, here we go, apparently in YKTTW Limbo: Amulet of Normality.

No, I mean a By the Power of Grayskull! that turns He-Man back into Adam, and the latter is his normal form. Freakazoid does something like that.

But someone should bump, and hopefully launch, that ykttw anyway.

Anyway, does anyone have more alt name suggestions?

OP makes a good point, and 42 wicks is nothing to brag about.

Reverse Shazam doesn't really make sense because the reverse of I Am Not Shazam would be I Am Shazam.

Given the support for a rename, there is now an alternative titles crowner for this trope here. Feel free to add names as you see fit.

I'm tempted to suggest an additional name, as I personally am not 100% satisfied with the current suggestions. Also this seems to require bumpage.
