Senki Zesshou Symphogear:

Senki Zesshou Symphogear

Judging from the Winter 2012 thread, people want to talk about it, so I figured it could use a proper thread

Secret Character
It's a cool episode 1. I wasn't really expecting it to go that way. Like a cross between Madoka and Nanoha. And when I saw that this is a story about a dead girl...

He. Hehe. Hahahaha. Ahahahahahahahaha.

djmaca's reaction makes me want to watch this.

Hmm, it seems that this does not have a page yet.

Anyone else other than me notice that the enemy name is a reference to a certain other enemy known as The Noise?
I don't fight for good, and I don't fight for evil, I JUST FIGHT!

It's the same name, but that's a case of sharing the musical theme. What you should be pointing out is that the only difference between the noise and the gnosis is that the noise turn people into carbon instead of salt

Still Pretty Cool first ep to me. This and Rinne No Lagrange are my top priorities for this season so far.

And The Red headed chick's (Forgot her name Since she died) final moments were certainly a lot like Raoh, in that she was Stabbing the sky, and letting loose a massive energy wave that kills her enemies Along side her.

The first episode was pretty cool, yeah. The only thing I was slightly miffed about is the apparently foregone conclusion but here's hoping things are not what they look like.

I like the enemy designs, they're hip and freaky. And the way they kill is cool.

Noise vs Music, go!

Not anime one
Deculture is always interesting watch. One of better piece this season

This was one of the better premieres this season. That said it had one of the lowest quality as well, especially for a 2012 anime. Face it, the concert scene was badly drawn, the Noise seemed like they were merely "pasted" in, and the transformation scene near the end was a mess. Which means I'll be saving up for the Blurays to compensate! grin

@Demongodofchaos 2: it has a lot more similarities with the Gnosis in Xenosaga.
  • Transparent, faceless creatures.
  • Cannot be hurt by normal attacks.
  • Only hurt by attacks from a sexy robot (suit) girl.
  • Kills people by grabbing them, turning them a single color (white in Gnosis case, black in Noise case) and then making them explode.

Yeah, but she lived. If she'd actually died instead lived through heroic willpower and loving sacrifice like every show ever, I might see where you're coming from.

Interesting use of norse mythology.

I'm not at all convinced that Hibiki will actually die. Things to consider:

- She almost got killed by what was probably a piece of Kanade's spear, i.e. Gungnir. There wasn't a lot else there to do it, and anyway it explains her powers.

- In norse mythology, the great wolf Fenrir is killed by Gungnir.

- She certainly looks wolf-like, there.

Well, it'll be fairly obvious if I'm right. If they're going that way, there are some useful aspects of Fenrir's story to keep in mind...

- He was too powerful, and scared the gods, so they sealed him away. This.. upset him, to say the least, and is probably why he helped destroy the world. Self-fulfilling prophecy much? But it could be what's going on here.

- Unlike the norse gods, who use what amounts to (magical) technology to fight their demons, Fenrir *is* a demon. His power is inherent.

This is the first time I've seen a transformation sequence involving cellular-level alterations. It reminds me of Saikano, more than anything else. I almost hope I'm wrong, because if they treat her the way Fenrir was treated, they're screwed beyond belief. :P

Pretty sure Fenrir was actually killed by Vitharr, Odin's son.

[up][up]And here I was thinking she was possessed by the "Mephisto" thing they were trying to seal via music.

The all the colorful fighting was interesting and all, but didn't hook me. That wonderful High Octane Nightmare Fuel of a transformation sequence did.

I finally watched the first episode and all I have to say is: Hibiki is awesome.

The problem here is the same thing that was my main problem with Madoka, the main charater is screwed since the very begining, so it would need a major Deus ex Machina to solve things at the end of the series.
