Lives were on the line and Amuro was the best White Base had for Gundam. So yes.
#IceBearForPresidentConsidering Amuro was a whiny little bitch before hand?
HELL YES.
Banagher needs a brightslap next.
It was really Char, not Bright, who made Amuro to fight again.
Thorn 14: I wouldn't call it whiny to help civilians to evacuate from the colony and fight against two mobile suits from his own initiative. Did I mention he was underage and below the usual conscription age, on which even some of the Zeon soldiers commented? I think it's great how Tomino dared to make a statement out of teenage pilot trope.

Just because its realistic doesn't make it entertaining. For me at least. (Its why I cant stand Shinji in the anime but he's pretty cool in SRW)
Also I really don't see the big deal about a slap was. Bright, despite how he looked in the anime, was not a full grown adult during the OYW.
He had to calm him down somehow.

I'd say Bright had the moral high ground in this situation. A few slaps were quite warranted.
Given that the options at the time were "slap Amuro" and "allow the ship to be destroyed, resulting in horrible fiery death for all aboard", I think it's pretty clear which is the correct decision.
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.Usually, slapping people is totally the wrong thing to do. But in this case it was probably the only right thing to do.
Always, somewhere, someone is fighting for you. As long as you remember them, you are not alone. Most Bright Slap s in Gundam are very much warranted
The exception is Zeta Gundam's while they did work they wernt really called for... Bask Ohm to Bright (into a Heel–Face Turn... sorta) and Whats his face the AEUG backer that holds no rank (that one bugged me... let the people in the military do it.) to Kamille.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!The suit that hit Kamille in the face? Oh yeah, I remember that SOB. That was so not cool.
Always, somewhere, someone is fighting for you. As long as you remember them, you are not alone. It seems like everyone gets slapped even Bright Noa himself but still cosnidering the situation, it felt necessary. They were in danger and there is no time to wait but I am not in the military so I am not familiar these situations.
"Analay, an original fan character from a 2006 non canon comic. Do not steal!"I feel the need to link this.
And I must note that so much slapping and punching is probably meant to show the inherent idiocy and pointlessness of violence, random or not. It denotes a desire for destruction. Bright's slap in 0079, on the other hand, is quite sensible in comparison.

Wow. How much slapping was there in Zeta?
Hey You wanna sandwich?
NO STUPID!! SLAP!!!
Okay then. SLAP!!!
Why'd you hit me?
Cause it's Zeta Gundam. That's why.
And so ends my completely inaccurate parody.
One Strip! One Strip!I think Bright only managed to make Amuro angry. It wasn't until he heard Char's name he decided to start fighting again.
^ But nobody cares. All that matters is Bright Brightslapped Amuro and he became a Man of Destiny.
Just like why Shinji is not a angsty failure in SRW. He had the failure and angst slapped out of him by Bright Noa.

"Allah may guide their bullets, but Jesus helps those who aim down the sights."Well, that and having a host of positive role models hanging around.
yes
even if its ethically wrong
It's worth noting that during World War Two, officers in the Japanese Army routinely slapped underlings who displeased them. (See Towards Our Glorious Deaths by Shigeru Mizuki for a thinly fictionalized story of life in the Japanese Army of the time.)
Amuro's problem was that he didn't understand that the gundam was the only thing keeping everyone alive. His own wants should have taken a back seat to defending others. Granted, he was essentially drafted, but he's still the only one around that could save everyone.
Drafted with no training what so ever and no real mentor to see him though the issues as he adjusted to his new life.
Kamille and Kira both had mentors and didnt quite reach that level.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!It's kind of interesting to see how Noa's leadership style evolves. Especially how in ZZ he basically goes "Fuck Discipline, this isn't working" and just letting the kids do their thing.

This may not be the right one:
Just as the title says, was Bright right in slapping Amuro? Sure, he as acting like a brat but it always seem to bother me that Bright had to resort to that.
