Just outside the lane. If their opposing center is also "just outside the lane", and so long as they're considered "actively defending", they won't be called for a 3-second violation.
You really haven't watched that many NBA games, have you?
I'm reading this because it's interesting. I think. Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot, over.Nope. The only closest thing to that is the match from Space Jam (which stretches, breaks, or outright ignores a lot of rules, whether basketball or scientific) and part of this one movie I vaguely remember about a kid who somehow joins a professional basketball team (I think it had to do with a pair of super-awesome/lucky shoes he had) and becomes friends with the star player (I think he was a real NBA star, but don't remember the name).
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. You really need to watch more actual basketball games. Not necessarily NBA, but to understand basketball, you have to watch the sport itself, not exaggerated portrayals in media.

The sad, REAL American dichotomyYeah, I know. But I got a lot on my plate, and higher priorities to tackle (both real-life obligations and a slowly growing watchlist/readlist of fictional works).
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Say, how variable is the maximum size of a professional basketball team's bench between different major leagues across the world?
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.I dunno, though that's probably google-able. In the NBA, the total roster including starters is 15 players.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyYou can also watch highlights on Youtube. There are plenty of instructional videos and game analysis channels you can check out too.
If you're serious about writing a basketball-themed work you should at least do this much.
Check here and here, you should find all possible information you need.
As for your question, I think you can have up to 15 players under contract, and if a team suffers many injuries I think it gets the option to hire a few more.

Now: Kobe's last game, and the Warriors go for the all-time regular season wins record.
To my own surprise, I'm oddly hoping that the Lakers win and the Warriors lose their games.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyKobe, you Magnificent Bastard. I was expecting you to end on a sour note, and you score sixty points. Well done.
I never liked Kobe, but I am going to miss him. He truly was one of the greats.
Now go Spurs.
Houston probably lost their only shot at not getting swept.
It's been like 10 years and Dwight still has no post game. And the sad part is that he still has a good chance of getting a max contract.
And once again, Chuck being Chuck.

Depends on how the Curry trend influences the NBA. If the future PG & SG can reliably score from 9 or 10 meters away, big men aren't as important, especially when they are one-dimensional archetypes like DJ or Howard.
They would be much better suited to teams that are about Defense first (like Utah, or Chicago before this season). But since Howard plays with James Harden...
If there was any time that would be ideal for Jason Terry to retire, it would probably be now.

If Utah had made the playoffs instead of Houston it might have changed the entire dynamic of the postseason.
Without Gobert in the paint I don't think Utah would have lasted against GS, even with Curry out.
In retrospect, Curry should be happy not to have played against the Spurs when they had Bruce Bowen, because there is no way he would have finished the series in one piece if he had to play against him.
Between Game 6 in Charlotte and last night in Toronto, Wade's been reminding everyone how clutch he is.
Maybe he is celebrating the tenth anniversary of his legendary playoffs run in '06. Worst things could happen to Miami - although now even with a godlike Wade I doubt they will be able to beat whoever wins the West - which means GS, probably.
Say, can a professional basketball team have an actual team membership that is larger than the legal limit for official matches, from which they choose specific players to be officially registered for participation in an official tournament, such that they are forced to stick with those registered players for the duration of said tournament?
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.I'm glad the Raps put away this Game 7 much easier but the amount of salt Heat fans were throwing around in the bar I was watching it at only made it better
Special shoutout to the ones who talked about how LeBron is gonna flex on Toronto note much like a kid that gets beaten up and then runs for their older brother for help.

I am amazed at the Thunder resilience against GSW. I would have never imagined them taking two games in the series, let alone getting home court advantage at some point. I was pretty sure that the Thunder-Spurs-Warriors fight was a Rock Paper Scissors issue, with one team being perfect to beat another and losing against the third. I still see the Warriors winning, but they got obliterated during the last game, that is bound to leave some psychological scars. Especially when you arrived as the "best team ever", I mean, I cannot really picture the '96 Bulls ever being led by 40 points. Rodman would have murdered the entire opposite team before it could happen.
Toronto keeps winning. The fact that they are 2 wins from an nba finals appearance is just unthinkable. I still think the Cavs will take this (then again, with the way Kevin Love, Tristan Thompson and J.R Smith are "playing", who knows?) but I'm pretty proud of the Raps either way.

I'd say "congrats", but instead I'll say "Your team should never play 'Final Countdown' again. That's a Detroit thing. You don't get that."
The sad, REAL American dichotomyThis loss will probably haunt the Thunder for a long, long time. Especially if the Warriors go on to win it all.
Yup (also, dat team). Even when they get the worst lineups, the Pistons get the best intros.
I predict Warriors in five for these Finals. I really think that the Cavs could have taken GS if they had been cruising through the first three turns because it would have been the first "solid" opposition, but after the Thunder gave them hell, they won't lose their focus.

The "overboard" part was directed at the extent of the forbidden zone. The whole lane? Where are the centers supposed to stand, then? The NBA rule doesn't care whether the player has the ball or not, BTW; I forgot to mention that earlier.
