It's pretty much undeniable that Lagrange was meant to be a split-cour. That sort of thing is decided way ahead of time, since the scheduling for the TV timeslots need to be booked in advance.

Might be pointless to do so, but necroviving this one.
Got into the series a week ago and loving it. The English dub from Viz is really good.

I haven't checked out the dub yet.
I enjoyed the first season. Haven't checked out the second yet either. A friend of mine hates it after having seen the second...

I was under the impression it was intended to be a split cour from the very beginning.
And very little was resolved at the end of the first season. A bunch of problems remained that had yet to be solved, and many questions were still unanswered.
