Yeah, I've never heard of that game before. I think it's supposed to be a post-apocalyptic MMO set in the Southwestern US, am I right?

I tried it out about a year ago when it was recently out of beta. Interesting concept, although it's pretty guideless. I recommend staying with the primary questline, as you can get kind of lost without the overarching goal helping to guide your progress.

Might look into it again, now that it's F 2 P.

As promised, I looked into it again.

It has an UPGRADE NOW banner that you can shrink down but not totally get rid of (unless you pay, I'd imagine), and if you pay up, you can get cooler gear, but other than that, it still feels like it did when I tried it a long time ago.

Only now, it's not a financial burden to play. Seeing if I can get my wife in on it. Unlike EVE, Pv P is not forced. Like EVE, there is no character classes - it's all about what you want to do. My biggest beef is that unless you're willing to spend chips for materials, you'll be spending a lot of time foraging for crafting components. Which sucks if you can't find a spawn of such-and-such for your new armor recipie.

Weapons fire and stuff goes where you're aiming, so it plays like an FPS at times. Kind of feels like the recent Fallout games, in a sense.

Sticking to myself for the time being, although there are a number of clans recruiting in my starting area, if I was inclined to do so.

I have recently gotten into this. The big obnoxious banner is long gone. I kind of like the scrounging for items to build stuff aspect. Gives it a real survival kinda feel.

Right now I am looking into being a sniper sneaky type character. Crossbow is suiting my needs in that regard with a pistol and an axe as back ups. Did my first big cross country travel to get to a new town to build my atv. Then I am heading back to my town of origin to finish off the local quest chains.

I might be persuaded to jump in on this again, since you're on.

Downloading it now.

Yay, my character is still on record. Level 10, Ibbis Malle. Currently chillaxing at Mumford. Have to figure out why my hotbar is blank - it never was intuitive to assign things to it and it's been a few months since I had it set up last...

I've got to make the run north to do more of my ATV stuff, even if I never actually use the thing - quests are a great way to gain experience, but grinding mobs generally gives you drops you can either craft with or sell...

So, hooked up with Tuefel in chat. Yay, not so alone anymore. Grinded low-level Blade Dancers in Mumford for a bit, but the drops didn't seem as plentiful as before. Took a trip to Embry Crossroads to turn in two quests I had completed in my questlog that I forgot about, started two small quests since I was in the area. One was a fetch quest (which are always frustrating), the other was a go-here-and-kill-these-guys quest, which was significantly easier.

Sold some junk loot, and I'm pretty close to hitting level 11.

Oh, Tuef: You have a horse? I can gin one up for you - the freebie horse is really lousy.

I'm pretty much split between crafting and melee.

It is cool to have another player kicking around the wasteland. I hit level 11. I finally got my first bullet firing gun crafted. The Rimfire magnum. The gun is a bit costly to build parts wise.

Ammo dear god ammo is going to suck. Until I can craft heavy gun powder it is a 150 chips for a single unit. Plus iron, lead, and steel.

The plus side is that I can get the metals killing random enemies and i net 150 shots per production run. The big downside is that it takes 17 minutes with facilities to craft a single run.

Got my first rifle skill and am pushing for a mutation skill in Thermal control. Pvt will remember the Blade dancers that set him on fire. I am getting that skill.

Working on my science and armor skills as my focus at the moment. I need to visit the armor trainers here soon and see what I can get in the way of new crafting plans.

Well, no need to peanut-butter your skills everywhere. If you're with a partner, you can specialize - since you seem to like rifles, probably best to dump points into just that. I'll stick to Melee, since it works, mostly - although I should probably learn to tank damage. If I can get the missus to play, she can do medic stuff and other things. But I've got to convince her to try it out, first.

Leveling will greatly help crafting, as you unlock higher caps on your attributes, which in turn cap your skills. I can cap out my crafting at 64 points each, I think.

Riding in tandem across the wastes was pretty cool. Looking forward to getting on later today; haven't poked around Oilville much as of yet. There's some of the "you're dying, clone" questline I want to do, and if you're with me, that should go smoother.

If you need the iron, lead and steel, I have a good amount of it stashed on my horse.

My skill sets are still chiefly focused on the rifle, a smattering of social for the benefits with traders, some armor, and some first aide. I have a bit in power.

The reason I want that dot is if I peg a target I can burn tough enemies while I take slower shots with the rifle.

Right now my crafting skills for guns or melee are coming along nicely. My science skill is doing reasonably well. My cooking still sucks but there is a benefit to using it namely the buffs from eating and drinking.

I need the science and ballistics to become self sufficient in ammo production and to produce larger ammo lots. There are high effeciency recipes for heavy rifle ammo but I need more skills to even get to them. They will be a god send for me once I get them. My next big upgrade will be a Rime Fire Magnum sniper. Basically just slapping a scope on the rimefire.

I'll queue up the download tonight when I get home.

Think I'll give this a shot. I'm a sucker for anything post-apoc.

Haven't been able to find much info about this, how does it play?

Like they fused a FPS with an MMORPG, sort of, and if you squint your eyes juuuust right, you might think it was Fallout. You run around looting and scavenging, and either selling the results or crafting stuff out of it. I've made pretty much everything I'm wearing and using as a weapon, with the exception of one pistol I was given as a quest reward.

There are a lot of fetch quests, though. Go here, kill x number of baddies, return for reward.

Think I'll give it a shot. I've always wanted a fallout where you can kill people. Dayz normally scratches that itch but finding a server has gotten to be too frustrating as of late.

And I have to reinstall it. Then maybe we can kick around the Embry Commonwealth and acquire more decent loot. There is survival in numbers, and there are some quests I simply can't complete because I was by myself.

Forgot to add this page to my watch list. Pvt you can ignore my pm question. :P

I am about ready to start crafting shotguns and other Ballistics skill 60 items. Need to push my science up higher as well as my armor craft.

I can cover the armor stuff for now, as I'm just a hair away from 60 and I need an excuse to make more armor. Better shoulderpads and a helmet for you. Hope you don't mind a small coordination penalty...
