Two for me in the past few weeks: here and just today here. First one basically says he posted for advertising, and neither of them has a recorded forum history prior to starting their thread.

It's a bit of problem since webcomics are driven more by self-promotion, thus it's going to be recurring. My PM directs them to this thread (which I probably need to have stickied) to avoid issues. Of course, not much good is done if they don't see my PM...
In uffish thought
Both FAQ and Wiki Talk have people whose first post there is making a new thread to ask a question. In some cases, it's locked after that's answered so they never reply, thus never receiving the message. Having it on thread creation would be a good thing.

[up][up]This is interesting, because I remember encountering the same issue with troper authors, and I asked this question on Wiki Talk:

Troper Authors and associated issues

Basically, the assessment was that creators *CAN* create their own forum thread (promoting/discussing their work) and trope page (for their work), as long as they create only *one* forum thread and stick to it, and that they consider themselves as equal to other tropers whilst editing their trope page (i.e. no special privilege because they were the creators, no getting into edit wars)

I guess in that case Web Comic creators *should* be allowed to create a post pimping their webcomic.

I actually already made a FAQ thread for Wiki Talk, but it would need pinning to work.

Also, in my Welcome PM the links to the Morgue threads need to be fixed to the new one. The issue of the bugs thread is also still unfixed

Yack Fest Herald here with a technical request.

My greeting PM says in the second paragraph that there are four stickied threads in Yack Fest. This is no longer the case. Could I get it changed so that is says there are only three instead?

I saw that there was an opening for the Comics Herald. If there still is, I am interested and here is the PM draft that I was hoping to use if I get the job. [down]
Hello, Troper and welcome to the Comics part of the Forum! I am Fantasy Liver, your subforum herald and I am here to introduce you to this neck of the TV Tropes woods.

In the Comics Forum, people post discussions and conversations about elements in their favorite, or not so favorite, comics. Whether it be characters, events, or upcoming news, feel free to start your own conversation thread or continue a conversation in an existing thread. However, before you do, there are a few rules you should be aware of.

1) Make sure that, before you start a thread, no one else has started a similar thread. Originality is always better than duplicity, so try to think of your own ideas.

2) We're not looking for a Flame War here. Don't try to start an argument with someone just because they don't like the comics you like or because they think Superhero X can beat up Superhero Y. A good-natured debate is fine, but do it in a way that is intelligent and thoughtful.

3) Forum Rules are in full effect here. Read 'em. Follow 'em.

4) Have fun with it! Remember, this isn't a wiki for bashing fiction; it's to celebrate it. The same applies to the Comics Forum. Don't go on here to bash comic books or to be cynical.

Well, I think I've ran my piehole enough. Now go on and explore and have fun! 'Nuff said.

I would suggest doing like the rest of us do and have a list of basic rules for the Comics forum.

Go here for the full list of our various PMs.

Edit: Also, drop the all-bold text. Aaaah, my eyes...

Alright. Yeah, sorry about the all-bold text. I wanted to distinguish the draft from my intro. Also, what kind of rules? I looked at some of the other greetings and mine have the basic rules; don't start a thread that's already been started, don't be rude, abide by the Forum Rules, etc. Of course, I might've overlooked something.

The list is a listing of all rules, including some that are specific to the subforum you are applying to be a herald of. The latter should be ideally based on your observations of how posters there traditionally handle issues that are not specifically covered by the normal forum rules.

Besides, a list format is easier to read in general.

Okay, I see some grammar mistakes in the bolded parts but what do I need to change about Forum Herald?

Also, why do I need to delete the last line?

SUBforum herald?

Don't think deleting the bottom line is really necessary.

Does the Forum Games subforum still need a herald? I am considering applying, if that's okay.

[up] Yes. Pretty much as soon as you post a draft message for a specific forum, you're up for consideration. However, the appointment of new heralds has been very slow, probably because it's a fairly low priority for the mods, so don't be surprised if you're waiting quite a long time to hear.

[up][up] Also, the list of still outstanding applications is here.
