I'm surprised there isn't a thread about this show just yet.
Anyways, it's a good and surprisingly chilling at times show - essentially it's Goosebumps but Darker and Edgier
with more Downer Endings
, Outer Limits Twists
, and a hell of a lot more Twilight Zone Twists
. And the plots are actually made for episodes instead of being adaptations books, which often helps their consistency.
The tone reminds me of some of R. L. Stine's books for teenagers - the danger is real, and the tone often more ominous. Generally, instead of having the terrible twist happen out of nowhere at the very end like Goosebumps (and even in Goosebumps the twists were generally more shocking-but-humorous than dark), they're built up to. Tends to give them more weight.
Just saw the very end of "Dreamcatcher." Heh, karma's a bitch, isn't it?
Word to the wise, if weird shit starts doing down, be as nice as possible - sure, even if you're a good person the universe might screw you over and doom you anyway
, but you have a better chance of being the one who gets out alive if you're not a jerk. Careful of who and what you mess with, less you inadvertently doom yourself forever.
