I think it looks like a really cool design. I didn't even think of 9/11 when I first saw it either.

[up] It was.

I saw this once before and it does sort of look that way to me. I can see where people are coming from at least. It's an ugly design to me anyway, it's to random for my taste.

I like it. I can sort of see the explosion thing, but its not that definite. I'd live in it.

To be honest, I don't give a damn if the design offends anyone. It has been over a decade and if anyone complains about it, I'm going to tell him/her to suck it up.

There's a difference between talking about something and deliberately going out of your way to be cavalier about something.

The South Koreans in general aren't doing that, as far as I can tell. In fact, I think I heard of this before (a self-contained "city in a building?"), though I didn't know what shape it would be. I think dRoy simply chose his words... poorly.

I doubt it was deliberate, but now it's been pointed out I think they should probably change the design. Ten years is not really a long enough time.

You know that thing where you hear some fuzzy sound clip or see a trick image and you don't know what it is but then somebody says something and that's all you hear? "Oh yeah, I totally see it" counts for nothing when you have a thread or news article called "Building project invokes images of 9/11".

Also, slight reminder:those are the twin towers on 9/11, [1], so actually they look bugger all like it. There wasn't a big oval cloud stuck inbetween the towers in any image I've seen.

I think they should house a travel agency in the 'cloud' portion of the building. They should have the tail and cockpit of a plane stick out of opposite sides of the office as a means of recognition.evil grin

Yup, totally insensitive. -shrugs- Guess what with so many shitstorm happening around in my country right now and everyone's "Yeah, what you gonna do?" attitude, making those comments became a lot easy.

Still, I shouldn't have said that. I apologize to anyone who got offended.

EDIT: That said, I'm still in favor of the building's design. I don't know, I just don't see it.

I love the incorporation of the trees and garden areas on the tops of the cloud partitions. I think we'll be seeing more of that in the future as non-inhabited land area shrinks but our need for things like more oxygen and less carbon dioxide increases.

If they would resort to violence over words, they are the ones who are in the wrong. To say it South Park style, we can't do what one side says just because they are the side that would resort to violence.

Really, all this ridiculous hypersensitivity to anything about 9/11 is dangerous. We can't even address the role US foreign policy has had in causing it because any divergence from that "they hate our freedom" fairy tale is branded "insensitive." Well, maybe we need to be insensitive then.
