"It's done - GSC is gone, the team is now Vostok Games and works on an MMO called "SURVAVIUM" tbr end of 2013. STALKER 2 - "We did not reach agreement with the rights owner regarding the use of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. brand, that’s why we made the decision to move forward as an independent studio with a new project."
"After a long silence the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 development team is finally back with the announcement. A new studio and project, despite no official continuation of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is reported, it looks like the ideas and spirit S.T.A.L.K.E.R. will live on in the team's new game — "Survarium" "
;_;
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is officially dead.

Survavium probably isn't going to be an MMOFPS, is it?

Support Gravitaz on Kickstarter!Thats what they said they are making...
Oh boy I can't wait for a bunch of BR and Russians to grief level 1 players with a likely shitty pay 2 win cash shop.
Heh. Not a good thing at all, this is really bad news if true.
It is. They have a video and everything.
I want to have faith in the devs but....I just can't.
Dammit its TOR all over again.

Oh come on...
Who hold the STALKER license anyway?
Give me cute or give me...something?The government, I believe.
Survivum site is up - only Russian for now.
English is up:
Survarium is a free2play MMOFPS game set in the near future. The game focuses on a mass-scale ecological catastrophe on Earth, the reasons behind vaguely known.
Impassable woods advance onto cities from every side, maddened animals and birds attack industrial complexes, military structures, warehouses and power plants. Strange plants and mushrooms grow through concrete and steel. Scientists all over the world haplessly try to cope with the anomaly sprawling across the Earth with terrifying speed. Countries collapse, anarchy spreads throughout the world. Now force dictates who to survive.
The game is developed with a new proprietary Vostok Engine technology and is planned for release on PC at the end of 2013.

Jonah Falcon"Help us please, we are out of medicine! Run over to the pharmancy store and gather 10 pieces of medicine from bandits!"
Official press release from Vostok Games here.
"The concept of Survarium is a next evolution step for the idea of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. we’ve been working on for the last ten years. – said Project Lead Ruslan Didenko. – Survarium will go way further forcing mankind to fight for survival not only within the closed area of Chernobyl zone, but also far beyond."
"Technology versus nature, rational versus mystical. Such a confrontation enables us to take a new look at the current happenings in our world, - said Aleksey Sytianov, Lead Game Designer of the project. – Survarium will offer players an atmospheric world of civilization crash, filled with factions and loners, stalkers and hunters surviving in a wild anomalous environment."
Jonah FalconThats great and all but I'm sure all that wonderful backstory will be ruined by constant "BR BR BR? BR! RS! RS RS!!!!"
Meh. STALKER was always a single player MMOFPS. There's no difference except for co-op.
Also, free-to-play.
Jonah FalconSeems like they gather lots of assets from what they've done and just change the world into something not license-held...
I'll wait and see how it plays out then...they have good game idea, but usually buggy...
Give me cute or give me...something?I don't recall having to grind for XP in STALKER.
Or chat messages of "LOOKING FOR TANK PST" or top level stalkers with all the best weapons in the game camping my corpse.
This won't have co-op. It'll just be a mess. Either they make it open world PVP and it becomes a constant grieffest or it ends up being like Tabula-Rasa and we saw how that turned out.
It being F 2 P is even worse now since it'll attract all the BR and RS.
Thorn, if you're that pessimistic why not just quit games altogether? Cause nearly every single thread I saw you in you keep complaining...Plus, STALKER was not MMO, so they'll be changes in experience...and I was talking about design materials and those stuff....

Give me cute or give me...something?I remember a lot of fetch quests, etc.
As Yahtzee would say, "... endless drudging from place to place, quests involving killing x amount of monster y for lazy stationary cockhead zed... HEY, THIS IS A MUMORPUGER!"

Jonah Falcon
Because I still have some games to look forward to. Minus one now. Being a pessimist doesn't mean I can't enjoy games. I'm just harder to convince something will work.
And I'm sorry but I played Fallout Online. Its just infested with russians who hack and grief, and there is a good chance this game will suffer the same fate.
Wasn't that Witcher 1's review? And Yahtzee is irrelevant to me ever since his "review" of Monster Hunter.
The guy has no idea what he's talking about.
Sure there were fetch quests, but because STALKER was such an open world you would never know what you would find on your way to said fetch quest (which usually were not part of the main storyline). You could run into fellow STALKE Rs fighting mutants, bandits, anomalies, all sorts of things.
Here you'll just find groups of 3 bandits standing around doing nothing until someone gets near their aggro range.

It was a mmorpg, but without the annoying real people corpse camping you, making Dirge jokes and general fuckwittery like that. That's two of my fave franchises knifed by Eastern Europeans - The Salvation War and now this. I hope it does not become a trend.
Stalker was pretty much a MMO without MP,
Also this game is free so.....
Russians and Ukranians, to be more specifically

http://steamcommunity.com/id/Xan-Xan/So it was massive? Yes it was.
And it being F 2 P is a bad thing since it will attract the worst sort of players.
Uh, not in my experience.
Jonah FalconWOW is not F 2 P, we have the worst of the worst too, so no, it doesn make any difference
Why so Negatron???
http://steamcommunity.com/id/Xan-Xan/@Thorn 14: Cause listening to your complaints starts to get tiring, really...
@LOEADITO Ox: Cause he's always like this...
Still set in Chernobyl...they really don't want to waste what they've already done aren't they?

Give me cute or give me...something?
Free to play MMO tend to attract gold sellers, hackers, griefers, spammers, and well, just look at Fallout Online. If they go the guild wars route and have it have an initial box fee only that will help somewhat.
I was a big STALKER fan so seeing ANOTHER Series I love turn into an MMO when it should not have is a bit tiring. If they cna prove to avoid the many many pitfalls, then maybe it'll work out, but I'm not optimistic.
STALKER's strength was in its atmosphere and immersion. Having a bunch of people hopping around like idiots grinding for purple loot doesn't really help with that.
Not to mention there will not be a modding community for this now.

I am with Thorn on this. It would not have happened without the label's owner throwing his teddy, nappy, dummy, quilt, blanket and mattress out of his pram and that's terrible.
The only official reports from GSC were that the company was shutting down and they were considering closing down their website. Nothing was officially said about how many people got laid off, if I recall correctly.
