I remember when my professor first introduced the series. It was amazing not just the quality of the piece, but that someone could visually portray such an ethereal and abstract philosophy so naturally.

These are among the pictures I've saved to my external hard drive. Every once in a while, I go through the collection.

First things first: I am not really one for paintings. Yeah, I'm -okay- at painting, but in no way great.
However, I have to deliver a speech analyzing a piece of artwork, and my teacher suggested The Course of Empire: The Savage State to me. I saw one look at it and was like, "Yep, I'm doing it."
I've never really appreciated paintings, but this one- the combination of imagery and themes- has me completely enthralled.
