Pretty Cure general thread

We have a release date for Glitter Force. The first half is coming December 18th of this year. Here is the source along with a new description of the series.

I'm guessing they don't have the licenses to do what they've done with Digimon Adventure and put both the localised and original sub-only versions on Netflix then.

yeah,the good side about this is that we won't have to wait much longer to see if this is going to be a disaster of a Magical Girl dub that we haven't seen since Mew Mew Power...

I'm sure we'll get a good laugh out of it, intentionally or not.

At least the core story hasn't changed much, from the description given.

Though, I'm sure parents will be surprised when they find the show they want to show to their little girl to be cheery and usual girl show entertainmnet, only to see action that would make Dragon Ball blush, and complain to Saban that it's too violent.

Smile doesn't have the 'action that makes dragonball blush' like Heartcatch and Futari Wa.

When it tried it did have some pretty intense fights, like mid-season finale or Beauty vs Joker.

I would think Beauty vs. Joker is more graceful than intense, but mid-season finale and other personal battle episodes are quite brutal, especially March's.

I'm honestly really excited for Glitter Force. Even if it is completely butchered, I don't care too much, considering Smile Precure is not particularly deep in the first place.

And it means we're going to be seeing Precure merch here in the West and that will be awesome. I'm not the biggest fan of Smile's line, but...who knows? Maybe they'll give this the Power Ranger treatment and we'll get the newer seasons every year.

Dubbing anime is probably cheaper than shooting the live-action Power Ranger portions in New Zealand every year.

It wasn't that good really, Probably a moot point though it's probablynot going to be seen, remember they are cutting out 1/6th of the show.

Go princess probably has more intense action on par with Heartcatch now. Look at the fight with Towa and locks clone, as well as the fight against Monster Lock in episode 30.

And honestly, although futari wa's fights seem impressive, their animation is terrible, and I feel like the second half of splash stars fights are much more impressive.

Splash Star was more on the Ki blasts side of DBZ than actual fights, because of complaints. They were generally very lacking but still so much better than Yes and Fresh. Which generally had crap fights and way too much stock footage attacks, Fresh's single double or triple Pretty Cure Kick being the worst.

Movies are completely a different story though although nothing has topped White vs Black in the movie fights department.

If there's one thing I'll priase Go Pri for, it's the action. It's got the most consistently solid and dynamic fights since Heartcatch. Well, I liked HaCha's fights a lot, but I can see why people wouldn't like all the beam spamming.

I think what makes the Futari wa fights good is the fact that they're more... raw? Not sure what the right term is, but they're less flashy and rely more on good old fashioned fisticuffs than beam spam or random jump attacks that get the Cures batted away. It's a very different style compared to what Heartcatch and beyond did.

Yeah, Yes 5 and Fresh were mediocre in the fight department. Though I'll defend Yes 5 for at least being consistently average. Not great, but they got the job done at least. Fresh had terrible fights, stock footage (like the flying kicks) were more obvious than usual, and there was no energy to them. It's probably the biggest thing keeping it from being remembered as fondly as Heartcatch.

Futari wa's producer is the Planner for Go princess, so,that could be why the fights are so good this season.

All right, consider my WMG-ing about Minami's mom over, it seems we'll see her next episode and from the look of it, they seem to be getting along fine and Mom actually looking prestigious like the rest of the family. So consider it jossed.

Just makes me wonder why she'd forget mentioning her in nearly every moment possible.

It's literally the exact same thing Alice had with her mom in DokiDoki, and that ended up being nothing. I never expected anything more.

So we're about at the point where Happiness Charge started going downhill. Have I mentioned how I hate amnesia as a plot point when we already know everything? Because I hate amnesia as a plot point when we already know everything. If there's no mystery it's just going to drag things out. And it's even worse when it's with a terrible character like Kanata. Towa's real name is about as stupid as you'd expect from the Hope Kingdom. Haruka lied. She's the only one dreaming to be a princess. Towa doesn't need to dream for sure. While I don't think Haruka got too much attention since there was some focus on Towa's zetsubou, this really should've been a Towa episode. Pretending Haruka is as important to this guy she's met three times as his sister is dumb.
