NYPD forcibly evicts Occupy Wall Street, banning Press:

NCR Ranger
NYPD sent in riot cops and counter-terrorist officers to evict Occupy Wall Street on "sanitation" issues.

In addition, the press were kicked out from their corner of the park. One reporter, Rosie Gray explained she was a reporter to which the police responded that "Tonight she isn't." The only major new outlets covering this event are MSNBC and, according to Wil Wheaton's twitter, Al Jazeera English.

NOTE: When this post was made there was no media coverage. The blackout ended around 5AM EST when the police found out there were several live streams that were covering it and one ended up on Al Jazeera English.

You got to love the hypocrisy at times. Violent demonstrations and civil war in the Middle East is about freedom and justice, peaceful demonstrators in the US and Europe are punks, bullies and terrorists.

Y'know, though I'm not really following the OWS movement, what they've done for exposing how quickly police can mobilize and with such unrestricted and callous force has been eye-opening.

Am I a naughty boy for thinking we don't need an AKIRA remake, because the rioting in the streets and police brutality are happening for real?

Warner Bros could just put cameras in Wall Street to save so much money on hiring extras and props for that remake piece of crap!

Been done. Everyone knows all the things in Spielberg movies actually happened. He just got a film crew up at the right time.

NCR Ranger
MSNBC reports that they've assaulted a member of the NYC City Council and started destroying personal property. [1] Occuppy Wall Street's Twitter also says that two journalists were arrested for staying with the protesters. And have started using a sound cannon. [2]

looks like coordinated action, police also move against O Ccupy movement in other town. Salt Lake City, Denver, St Louis.

This is very bad news sad

People are being tear-gassed while others are barricaded out so they can't watch.

Police battering a peaceful protest at the feet of some of the most corrupt people in the world. Where to even begin with that one?

Anyway, hopefully it kickstarts even more and even stronger protests soon.
And let us pray that come it may (As come it will for a' that)

The Press has been let back in for the past hour.

It's amusing to me that "the land of the free" is cracking down on peaceful protests.

And it's scary how many people in the comments are perfectly OK with that.

The citizens of the land of the free and the brave have forgotten what it means to be both.

CNN is also reporting. so it's not like we're working with a media blackout (unlike what the thread-starter implied).

But Mayor Michael Bloomberg's office said the move is temporary.

"Occupants of Zuccotti should temporarily leave and remove tents and tarps. Protestors can return after the Park is cleared, " the mayor's office said in a tweet at 1:34 a.m.

You know, guys, if you actually told the PROTESTERS that instead of tweeting it an hour after midnight to the internet, maybe they'd be more willing to cooperate? Less derp, more organization and communication.

One wonders what their reasoning is for blocking reporters, however. That strikes me as... suspicious.
Furthermore, I think Guantanamo must be destroyed.
Isn't it obvious? Evict them, don't tell them they can come back, let them get violent then go "SEE?! They're violent, we can't let them back in!"

I hadn't noticed until a bit later that the 'cleanup' process also involves forbidding further usage of tents, sleeping bags, etc. That's as close to a stealth ban on the protest without calling it ban that you can get, I think, given that it's November and that OWS is in a northern state.
Furthermore, I think Guantanamo must be destroyed.

I wonder if this will be locked as a precaution against it turning into the OWS thread that went South.

My best wishes go to the OWS. I'm glad that the American people have stood up to liberate themselves and, in extension, the entire world, from tyranny.
The sin of silence when they should protest makes cowards of men.
