I was already shaking my head in disappointment before even finding out what they did wrong.
It's just EA, y'know?
Umbran Climax◊Figured it was something like this.
Remind me why people buy their games again?
Whoa, hang on, the ban prevents people playing their games OFFLINE? I'm no lawyer but I'm pretty sure that's ridiculously illegal.
How do I delete my EA profile now...

Can't think of anything witty, so have this instead...EULA's have been the source of debate, and there's a movement to outlaw them.
But no, it's legal. Actually, if you read the find print of every game you own, from Nintnedo carts to now, you're just leasing the game, really. You don't own it, legally.
Jonah FalconGeorge Orwell would be so proud. If the stories I heard are true, bans are quite profitable for companies forcing players to re-buy their games.
And F^$# our current copyright laws side with EA on this matter.

Apocalypse: Dirge Of Swans.I actually did just load up Dragon Age Origins just to try to delete my own EA account. I don't even visit the EA forums but the thought that some asshole at EA online could potentiality lock me out of my own games makes my blood boil.
Good thing I hate online gaming anyway or I'd be 10 times more disturbed than I am already by this. If this turns into the norm for games companies...
Can the single player bans not be circumvented by disconnecting the console from the internet while you play?

Can't think of anything witty, so have this instead...x3 Is anything supposed to be there?

Umbran Climax◊The simple answer is to never visit the forums. Seeing completely empty forums would be a powerful message. After all, there are OTHER game forums.
Jonah FalconEA disgust me.
I don't think I'll ever buy anything with "EA" on it, ever again. I won't even look at mass effect 3. I was looking forward to the last game, but I don't even want to download it anymore.

STEALTH!!!*cough* Maybe encouraging piracy isn't quite the right way to go here.
Apocalypse: Dirge Of Swans.Gonna agree, don't make them think more DRM is a needed idea PLEASE!

STEALTH!!!I think they mean it's kind of against Tvtropes policy to advocate piracy, and you might not want to be so open about it.
But yeah, Fuck EA.
Can't think of anything witty, so have this instead...No offense dude, but that sounds like some severe entitlement right there.
There is also this, since Piracy is, you know, a crime.
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/lb_i.php?lb_id=13239183440B34964700 Alfric's Fire Emblem Liveblog Encyclopedia! It is against TV Tropes' policy to post links and cues on how to find illegal material. It does not deter me from expressing and defending my opinion on whether one is allowed to use illegal material.
... Can we return to discussing how much E.A. sucks?

STEALTH!!!^^ My concern isn't about whether it's right or wrong. I was merely informing the previous poster that I think advocating piracy may be a banning offence. Funnily enough.
What really gets me is how utterly scornful and unapologetic EA are being over this issue. Slapping permabans on peoples gaming accounts for comparitively minor offences and then declaring the matter closed and refusing to even consider the affected gamer's case. More disturbing is that since EA claim forum bans and gaming bans are handled by different systems, that implies all the seperate departments are being given orders to 'ban this guys account' across the board. That is utter bullshit.

Can't think of anything witty, so have this instead...Well the difference bein', that copy has already been paid for vs that copy was never bought in the first place.

So. Let's all pause for a moment to smell what the Rock was, is, and forever will be... cooking.—Cave Johnsonhttp://www.destructoid.com/rumor-ea-wants-wii-u-to-exclusively-use-origin-215778.phtml this is terrible, Nintendo is pretty dumb when it comes to online so they will take whoever can bring online and well since ea is pretty much backing nintendo up and battlefield was a huge success, so it's only inevitable.
I used to do this all the time, too, back in the days when DRM was less complicated and some tricks were easily repeatable.
And I somehow doubt the torrent maker buying or not buying the material is what the fuss is about.
Competitive edge? More like monopoly.

STEALTH!!!Actually... No. Because a copy wasn't bought(by the second person) in either case...
Yes. But only for the vanilla version. You cannot update the game. You cannot get DLC... But it should be pointed out that if this is "unacceptable" EA is required to refund your money(not the store you bought the game, but EA itself). So long as they want their EULA to remain valid, that is...

Hopefully, Nintendo's smart enough to realize that signing on with the gaming community's second-favorite punching bag (after Activision) would end up with them losing sales.
Huh?
I've always thought EA's EULA is "Fuck you and everything you stand for" in fine print on seventeen pages.

STEALTH!!!I meant pirating when I said downloading. "Pirating" is not a common term here in Quebec. Piracy is another subject entirely, I'd rather stick to EA since it's what we're here to talk about.
Now, regardless of my view on piracy, I don't want to have anything to do with corporations that overtly treat their customer like shit. Bioware maybe will outdo themselve with Mass effect 3, I don't care, if they can't call bullshit on EA's action, then I can't get myself to play their game.
... Really?
