Yeah if there is a misunderstanding it must be my fault.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Apparently my Photoshop skills are lacking, because I just tried to cobble together a 2-panel version and it looked like a mess each time, or was too big. But the idea is much better than what we have now, a straight example instead of this "lampshading a lampshade" nonsense.
Also rodney you really should calm down, and saying "you don't get it" is just arrogant and pretentious. I get it just fine and I'm sure everyone else does too, the point I'm trying to make here is that the current example is too much of an abstract meta-joke that, by itself, provides little to no context of the joke, and we would do better with a straight example.

I should add that despite the trope name, it's essentially two parts. The picture on the page only shows the latter parts. That is why it's not a proper example. It only shows half the trope.
Unfortunately, the comic it came from makes it really hard to show the whole context properly. Not that it can't be done. Someone would just have to be really good at moving the balloons around and filling in the panel gaps.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid."Furthermore, this isn't a crowner, so don't act like you can tell us how to do our suggestions."
Uh, honestly trying to help. That pic is a zillion times better than nothing, and it's not going to get replaced by words about how it could be different. Have fun, though.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan."how it could be different" suggests a lack of possibility of becoming reality. There is the strip that gives the context to actually make it different.

I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.I am supremely confident that a multi-part version of that OOTS strip would be utterly buried by the (current) single-panel version, which is awesome. So I was recommending suggesting something different. Go ahead, though.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. That's not really discussing the content of that single panel versus the content of that panel and the panel(s) preceding it. That's just throwing around an opinion.
That's not really a bad thing, but it doesn't give reason that we have to go with another suggestion.
EDIT: Not that we won't look for other suggestions. It just doesn't do to declare we have to look for another one.

I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. It's a good thing my plan was only to throw around an opinion.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. So exactly what is it lampshading, anyway?
An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.We're here to discuss the page picture for this thread. Do you have anything to say about the actual content of the full strip versus the current picture, or any suggestions of your own?
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. It's lampshading Lampshade Hanging. I don't know how many times that's been pointed out. Must be at least four just in this thread, plus, of course, the caption right there under the image...
Rhymes with "Protracted."Well I and others contend that the picture only shows half the trope. Without previous context, it's just calling out something unseen.
Also, I should add that since the current picture was tweaked from the source, we could do the same to make the previous one or two panels stack well with it. Whoever chooses to try to do that.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. No, I understand, given my earlier analogy with the subs (Lampshading_1 is calling attention to a trope in the work, and Lampshading_2 is calling attention to Lampshading_1) the complaint is not that the first trope isn't shown, it's that Lampshading_1 is not shown either. The single panel only shows Lampshading_2. It is supposedly lampshading Hanging A Lampshade, but you have to know what the term means to get the joke or it's just a visual pun about lampshades; the image is not explanatory. Right?
One: Ok, point, suggest something better. Two: I don't think that matters, viewers are not morons. Context is shown, that is arguably the only thing the "art" is doing. The picture is of two orcs (?) and a prisoner tied to a stake, the Supreme Leader maybe just did something on the Evil Overlord List. Or something else, doesn't really matter. Something specific would diminish it.

How? The actual strip shows the villain clearly annoyed at one plot point seeming very ridiculous, which, by the way, is a proper example of this trope. How could pairing a proper example, with a visual pun that properly follows it, be diminishing?
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Guys, before we get any further with this - this, yet again, is a page with subpages. With that, I'm good to move the pic to the Webcomic subpage as is.
@troacctid: Sorry, I meant the other Lampshade — the OOTS strip is Hanging A Lampshade on a Lampshade Hanging of what exactly?

An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.This is going nowhere, and since the clock's up, I think we need to take a break and maybe come back in a month or so and see if we can find a less contentious example. Locking up.
"suggest" is not the same as "post". Please be clear in your requests. It just makes one sound even worse when you blame people for not getting your vague instructions.
Furthermore, this isn't a crowner, so don't act like you can tell us how to do our suggestions.
