Summary : After being separated from each other for 6 years since the death of their parents, fraternal twins Akito Himonokouji (brother) and Akiko Himonokouji (sister) had finally reunited together again during the holidays thanks to some planning from Akito, despite objections from both of their adoption families. Being happy that Akito had fulfilled his promise to be with her again, Akiko confessed readily that she had incestuous love in Akito, and will not hesitate to do anything to win the love of Akito. Akito however does not harbor the same feeling for Akiko, and as a result had a headache with Akiko's actions. Despite all these, he still loves Akiko as a sister, and finds her adorable and cute, especially when he had not seen her since she was 10 years old.

Well this is interesting. Not the story, so much as the way it turned out.

How would I describe it? Perhaps Ore Imo completely lacking in class.

I kinda feel that with a few extra lines here and there we could have ourselves a Catch22 style parody.

The translation isn't all that good, but I can give it credit for the Bakemonogatari type conversations still working out.

Did not see the Not Blood Siblings thing coming though, and surprisingly this series is not completely without subtlety and interesting twists and turns.

First episode of the Anime is out.

My impressions: less ecchi than I thought, probably more harem if anything.

The setting and details have all been adapted faithfully, but they didn't stick to the script. Something I can completely understand, as it would have been a bit slow if that had done that.

So far, no seriously funny gags, and fanservice kinda low in my estimation (aside from one or two notable moments, one of which was censored with black).

I had hoped it the dialogue would be somewhat cleverer. But still, this isn't bad (not by the standard of shows I'm lumping it in with anyway), it is however not aiming particularly high.

Hrm. This isn't looking great, but I can't seem to pinpoint anything noticeably bad about it either. :/

Hm, somewhere between decent and good. Moderately clever dialogue, decent animation, low fanservice, terrible pacing. Also, I'm still not sure whether or not it's supposed to be a parody

I feel the dialogue could have been cleverer. It may just be how it's set out in the light novel, but certainly I thought much of it was somewhat clever there.

The "Don't call a woman a hole (ana)!" was belaboured, but being able to hear the protagonist's thoughts helps you tell what he thinks of this.

Then there was stuff like the gender of the childhood friend (white-haired short girl) being hidden for the entire first novel.

Well anyway, judging by the first two chapters of the manga, this anime adaptation most closely resembles that so far, as opposed to the light novel.

To be frank, I didn't find it either particulary good nor clever. I know girls falling for protagonist out of blue is quite standart for harems, but there ween't even the slightest excuse reasons. And when was revealed that they aren't blood related I droped it as it completely broken any suspence.

I will try watch anime as its less effort.

I like it that the sister's VA is a girl of her age.

I found the anime occasionally funny. Odd pacing. The sister is cute, but can probably be annoying, so it's amusing to see her shot down by everyone else. Not sure who I like the most so far, though I've not seen enough to properly judge. Probably Akito, but it's depending on how spineless he is. The less the better, and it's not looking all too good, frankly.

The banter between Akito and Akiko is easily the best part of this show so far. Haven't warmed up to the harem yet.

Also, I know Male Gaze and all, but sheesh, is there any real reason besides that for the camera to constantly be panning to the girls' chests/feet/other fetishized body parts?

Episode 2: Lead guy is an author notable for incest stories. Go figure. I'm also amused by the weird sounds the imouto makes.

Oh hey it's tsunday!

Talk about being a giant hypocrite.

This seems to be doing a pretty poor job of introducing most of the other characters. And I'm disappointed it doesn't look like we will see Blonde girl and Akiko apparently finding each other so distasteful that they can't stand the smell of the other lingering on people from the LN.

Well, okay it was still mildly amusing, especially for what amounts to anime original content, but I wish they'd step it up a bit.

Akiko's act is probably the funniest so far, constantly being shot down.

I wouldn't necessarily call Akito a hypocrite. It depends on why he writes those things. It could be because he's just good at it, because it sells and he's been asked to do it, or because he actually likes it. Only the last one would be hypocritical. I still like how he relates to his sister. He makes it obvious that he does love her, as a sister, but still maintains a strict limit to anything further than that. At the very least, it does give a sense that he's at least capable of saying no, something harem protagonists tend to suck at.

I think Akiko is balancing the border between cute and creepy pretty well. Or having a leg on each side... She's at least far more endearing than the usual character of her type.

I've not put my head around Gin yet. She looks like the typical Rei Ayanami Expy, and gives a hint of being somewhat of a Yamato Nadeshiko, but she's far more tsundere to fit any, despite not really being much of a tsundere. I do like that she's capable of arguing with him and not having it be a big thing. People don't always agree, and sometimes they fight, but that doesn't mean they're even afraid it might affect their friendship.

Arashi seems rather simple, but is probably less so than she appears. So far, she mainly seems to be there to have a character with a hot body, though I'd disagree with that. I'd guess she's smarter and craftier than she looks, considering her position.

Ana is the most interesting to me so far. She's got a weird sense of logic and humour. I just enjoy the conversations she's involved in.

Overall, it seems rather generic, but the interactions between the characters are still interesting and somewhat fresh. Partially.

Lastly, I don't care whether it follows the LN or not. It might be the same story, or it might be a somewhat new one. Judging something out just because it's different from its origins is stupid, IMNSHO. (Not saying anyone does.)

Or maybe Akito writes incest stories because they are psychologically fascinating, without supporting incest himself.

Akito's authorship dilemma is one of the very few things I find interesting about this show now. If I hear that the show goes more into that aspect, I may pick this show back up, but until then, I can't bring myself to care to watch any more of this.

Well, I was thinking less incest and more the book itself. Even then I suppose it's not necessarily hypocritical (he may be the kind of author that tries to avoid his own work wherever possible), but it is kinda ironic that that he wrote it and is suggesting that he doesn't want to hear anything about it.

I assumed he was writing the stuff because it sells. He keeps talking about how he has to take cae of his sister, and I'm assuming this is how he funds it.

Randomly, anyone thought of Karen while watching the OP? It's amusingly fitting.

Episode 3.

Now, I never thought I'd see a harem anime where the main guy is holding a pair of panties, and just plainly states as much, with a straight face. Without either blushing orgushing about it. I think he's my favourite character in the series so far. He's very reasonable, has a spine, and takes what the girls say with a healthy amount of sceptisism, especially from his sister.

Ana is suprisingly cute. So's Gin. However, I really liked how Akito just plainly suggested Ana learn how to do stuff herself, and then she just did it with him as a teacher. Without being comically clumsy about it too. She's also the type to be dead serious or joking with just about exactly the same expression and tone. I can't really tell if she's actually trying to deny the contents of the last box (which at least should've had a dent in it), or if she deliberately tells him about it. While she does have the benefit of more focus than the rest of them thanks to this episode, she's still my favourite of the girls.

Arashi is a troll, and sometimes it backfires. Not that she seems to terribly mind, though. Her "Ha?" was funny.

I think it's shaping up, if it continues like this. It's funny, and has a good balance of expected tropes and twists on them.

My respect for Ana shot up when she agreed to learning how to do housework. Definitely not your typical arrogant ojou-type. That also showed how reasonable Akito is, and generally harem leads should try to emulate him more.

Imouto thankfully still does weird noises this episode. I was in stitches when she broke down~

Finally, non-Hadena subs!

I'm always fond of those scenes where someone is so much of a nuisance that they get unceremoniously booted out of the room.

Blonde girl is given a little depth this episode. I mean, it's in the way she noted that the main character was immune to her unsubtley flirtatious advances (probably because he's been immunised living with those crazies). But... Joking. Right. Sure. If you say so. Are they buying this?

It did seem that an actual proposal was something against which the main character is unprepared.

But yes, Akiko's reaction was hilarious.
