@Rinsan: Definitely a story mode, hopefully with multiple bosses (preferably crossover bosses like the stages do), and more stages to have more awesome mix tracks.

I came up with two crossover bosses a while back: Congar wearing a giant Monkey Helmet and being controlled by Specter, and Dr Nefarious using the Biobliterator on Errol to turn him into Cyber Errol.

New items would be good too. I'd like to see Red Eco, which doubles AP gain for a few seconds, the Groovitron, which makes opponents stay in place dancing, Eddy's Golden Gun, which fires one bullet that kills an opponent on contact (to balance this, it can only be fired straight ahead), and the Chicken Drumstick, which makes opponents drop some AP and sends them flying. Maybe the Chicken Drumstick in Sir Dan's moveset can be replaced with something else, like the bombs from the second game?

I'd add new hit-reactions. This game has two extremes for getting smacked around: a light push or launched across the screen. It's extremely limiting in fighting game design to do that.

[up] Like the fire status effect you've been sugguesting? There is something else you've come up with? While I like the AP and the Super system, I think is limiting in what one can add to it.

With LBP 3 do you think they should add the other sackcreatures to hos moveset or make them playable characters, items or assist?

Well, after so much work trying to finding someone to lend me an iPad I finally managed to play Fat Princess Piece of Cake and got a free voucher for Fat Princess PS 3. I'm surprised not many people take advantage of this, but seeing only apple users with a canadian account can play the game for now...

Well, I do have lots of ideas, but most of them are pie-in-the-sky considerations that generally aren't feasible, or would just be there to fill space on the disc. Of them all, I suppose the two ideas I actually think are good enough to improve the game are the fire effect, a groove system ala Capcom vs. SNK, and a massive re-balancing of push-back.

Obviously this would be copying Smash even more, but having the whole customizable moveset system would be neat.

One other thing I would love is to adjust your winpose and losspose separately. I can't tell you how many characters have certain winposes I like, but can't use because I like a different outro's losspose more.

Well, CvS was using grooves all the way back in 2000, and I came up with that idea nearly a year ago before Smash was anywhere close to announcing it. That said, it's not really the same thing as a customizable move-set: the moves stay the same, but their behavior can be moved around and re-balanced to emphasize different aspects of their fighting styles (almost like how you pick your assist going into the MvC series). Some people still call CvS2 one of the greatest fighting games of all time, and I'm inclined to agree.

Looking at my list again, I suppose I'd also want to see multiple supers (via holding down) and a "lock on" button in place of the current taunt button (that's a bad word for it; I was more thinking of something that forces a character's direction towards their opponent, and not the auto-aiming that the name implies).

Well, it's been two years. I was watching this and realized that the Little Sister actually ignored the programming to love Big Daddies that all Little Sisters have.

But more importantly, that got me thinking about PSABR 2.

Ideas for a PSABR 2 roster? Should there be a theme?

My suggestions would've been:

  • Sly Cooper (Sly 4)
  • Cyborg Raiden (Revengeance/2)
  • Quiet (Phantom Pain)
  • Delsin (Infamous Second Son)
  • Ratchet and Clank (Ratchet and Clank remake)
  • Crash Bandicoot (Crash remake)
  • Cloud Strife (FF remake)
  • Spike/Jimmy (Ape Escape) (*Jimmy is a palette swap)
  • Parappa (*Lammy is a palette swap)
  • Noctis (FFXV)
  • Kat (Gravity Rush 2)
  • Kratos (God of War IV)
  • Nathan Drake (circa Uncharted 4)
  • Jodie Holmes (Beyond: Two Souls)
  • Travis Touchdown (No More Heroes: Heroes Paradise)
  • Aloy (Horizon Zero Dawn)
  • Joel (Last of Us Remastered)
  • Isaac Clarke (Dead Space 3/4?)

I don't see any Metal Gear characters coming to PSASBR2 (or Smash 5 for that matter) due to Konami being a shit.

If a sequel were made, here's what I'd feel the dealio:

  • The game to be made by Dimps, Spike Chunsoft or Naughty Dog
  • A story mode (most likely based off the one cut from the first game)
  • A more in-depth combo system (the first kinda had one, but not fleshed out)
  • Maybe a mode where up to 16 characters fight each other (8-Player Smash meets Anarchy Reigns)
  • Minions actually do something this time (like attacks, follow-ups, buffs or de-buffs)
  • The following characters:
    • Crash: A complete given and he's closer to Sony than ever before now.
    • Dart: Finish up what was left out in the first game.
    • Abe: Same as Dart.
    • Blasto: Billy West can do a mean Hartman impression, and he was cut from the first game.
    • Uberhero: Another cut character who'd be neat to include.
    • Kulche: Same as the last two.
    • Journey Wanderer: Another seemingly cut character.
    • SOTC Wanderer: If Team Ico can get their head out of their asses about artistic integrity, maybe we'll get him next time.
    • Ico: Same as above.
    • Chop-Chop Master Onion: Who wouldn't like fighting as karate master talking onion?
    • Um Jammer Lammy: Be kinda like Parappa, but with a more Rock-based moveset.
    • Vibri: She would be a very unique character with her rhythm-based shapeshifting.
    • Mr. Mosquito: An out there character with a fun, if albeit weird, fighting style.
    • Iota/Atoi: Another character who'd have a unique, paper-based moveset.
    • Buzz: A weird, game show host would be a fun inclusion in a fighting game.
    • Joel: A zombie-summoning fighting style would work great for a platform fighter.
    • Q*bert: Bet ya didn't know Sony partially owns this classic character.

Bring back everyone from the first game (give or take a few 3rd parties) and a sequel like this would be a blast!

The skipped heartbeats I suffered upon thinking there was news on a sequel.

But like seriously. [lol]

The game to be made by Dimps, Spike Chunsoft or Naughty Dog

I don't particularly care who makes it, I just want it to be treated seriously. A Playstation crossover has the potential to be really good, but it needs effort and attention put into it.

A more in-depth combo system (the first kinda had one, but not fleshed out)

A limited combo system, slow AP gain when playing in non-base conditions (2-minute 4-player free-for-all), little immediate risk in taking damage, a complete reliance on hitting kill moves, limited mobility options, lengthy cinematic Level 3 moves that stop the game in its tracks.....basically the whole gameplay could use an overhaul. I'd particularly like to see either something closer to Smash (with damage percentages and ring-outs) or a more traditional health system.

A story mode (most likely based off the one cut from the first game)

I don't know how much was cut so much as deliberately left an Excuse Plot to appeal more to FGC types, but yeah, I'd like to see a better effort as well. Especially since not only was there some decent potential (Nathan Drake trying to decode a page of the Thievius Racconus, Cole looking to recruit some of the other fighters), but there was also some clear improvements with the DLC (Emmett and Kat both genuinely interact and fight over a misunderstanding, while Isaac's assessments show some attempts at worldbuilding). I also like having Polygon Man as the central antagonist, but my God was he underwhelming as a boss fight.

...Though with all this said it might not be best to get Spike Chunsoft then. I still remember what they did with J Stars Victory Vs. Can't believe how much effort was put into something so half-assed.

I don't see any Metal Gear characters coming to PSASBR 2 (or Smash 5 for that matter) due to Konami being a shit.

I'm glad I'm not the only one hoping for Mister Mosquito. That game does not get enough love.

I would like to have Rayman included in addition to those already mentioned.

Also, I'm thinking the sequel might benefit from some sort of Health System to reduce the Padded Sumo Gameplay feel it occasionally had. Maybe an optional setting with health where you could kill a character with enough attacks, and the Supers would be instant kills?

The problem is the game is designed entirely around the Padded Sumo Gameplay, especially in regards to the "base conditions" I mentioned earlier. I remember one of the devs saying something to the effect of "your health is how much AP your enemies have," which sounds cool in theory but in practice felt very sluggish and at times repetitive.

If they do bring in traditional health, I'd like it to be the main focus, if only to provide both options and a bit more speed.

I'd like Lazarus Jones in a sequel. I had an idea for his gimmick being like an expanded version of Sly's, in that his attacks don't generate much AP alone, until he tags an opponent with his ghost catching frisbee, which would drain AP from his opponents for Lazarus to gain, and his regular attacks could make it tougher for the opponent to shake off the trap. It would be unique, but also tricky to balance without being a Game-Breaker. I imagine he could easily be overpowered in a 1V1 match, but less so in a free-for-all.

I'm also not sure if there should be a Final Fantasy character. If Smash had any other FF character it would be fine, but they got Cloud, which puts a hypothetical PSASBR Round 2 in a lose-lose situation. Put Cloud in, nobody cares because he's Nintendo's sloppy seconds, and I'd rather not antagonise Nintendo fans by ripping off Smash any more than is absolutely necessary. Choose another Final Fantasy character, and it's obviously because they couldn't get Cloud. At least Square Enix have plenty of other characters to choose from, like Lara Croft (I'd put money on her in a sequel since she was considered for the first game, and it was release timing that kept her out), Sora, Agent 47, Adam Jensen, Wei Shen or Kain. Indeed, the hard part with them is choosing just one character.

True. I mean, Square-Enix has released numerous FF titles for Nintendo, but as mentioned above, anyone who isn't Cloud will be lambasted because they aren't Cloud.

Then again, they got Bayonetta too, effectively invalidating their own "no real guns allowed" rule, which previously made Snake to rely on explosives instead. I think her inclusion among the otherwise rather colourful and family-friendly rosters seems a bit weird.

And on the topic of Cloud replacement, I feel like Sora would be the best option. FF and Kingdom Hearts have a lot of overlapping fans, and I'm not sure anyone else comes even near the popularity of these two. The game could also do the Third Party Promotional Thing and use Sora from the upcoming third KH.

Exactly. That's why Sora would be fine, but the Epic Mickey version of Mickey Mouse would be a bit weird.

I imagine that would limit Sora's moveset and home stage into something from Original Generation of KH, but given how much lore the series has developed around its original elements that shouldn't be an issue.
