Pauli exclusion principle applies to tropes.:

An isolated girl is just herself, but put her with two other girls and let them reach their ground state and they will through spontaneous symmetry breaking form the Beauty Brainsand Brawn trope or in groups of two the Tomboy and Girly Girl or other pair tropes, because they're quarks.

Guys are leptons and so fall into the Five-Man Band to match the s, p, d, f atomic orbitals. (The Chick is a hadron as above.)

Stories are about conflicts and so tend not to be in the ground state, but the ground state can be imagined as either what happened before the story or what will happen afterwards.
