Now that the trope is no longer called The Wesley, it seems even more absurd to just have a picture of Wesley.

Can we at least, you know, make it something indicating what the hell this guy has to do with the trope?

Adequately pic'ing this is going to require some kind of lampshade, and that's pretty much gonna have to be a comic or webcomic. That being said, I'm gonna go with Keep Until Better Image Suggested on this, since that pic's hung around for so long.

Agreed on Keep Until Better Image Suggested. Pulling the current picture without one that's better to put in its place is practically begging for an image war.

It's JAFAAC, and its status as the former Trope Namer does not matter. It's gotta be a webcomic example, preferably of someone OTHER than Wesley Crusher.

I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.

Yeah, even the caption merely shows he's The Scrappy. Neither shows the show giving the character unreasonable support.

^Indeed, and being The Scrappy isn't even part of the new trope.

Actually, technically it is — read the description. That said, I don't see the need to keep Wesley on there anymore.

Ah, I see. I thought it was more general than it was.

I suppose we could TRS the definition after the cleanup is done. But anyway, the image!

Eh, I'd be esitant on calling Keep Until Better Image Suggested on this one, that's really JAFAAC. But, I can see where the people worried for an Edit War are coming from, so... Maybe it would be safer to rule it unpicturable? I dunno, really.

Short of finding a webcomic or something, I'd be all for calling it unpictureable.

Ratchet Deadlocked has an In-Universe example, where Ace Hardlight is supposed to be a cash cow for Vox network, but the audience clearly hates him. I don't have my screencapture device right now, but a few screens with the subtitles on should show the trope.

I vote no pic. I just can't see how this is picturable.

There's pre-existing consensus that the current pic is not JAFAAC enough to pull, so it's officially Keep Until Better Image Suggested'd. (Was this the one where Fast Eddie said it was okay, or was that a different one? I don't remember.)

Rhymes with "Protracted."

How is it not JAFAAC enough to pull? Anyone not familiar with Star Trek will be completely lost as to who this guy is or why he's hated.

I think he should be the page image for the same reason that Batman is the page image for Badass Normal.

[up]Except that the Badass Normal page image actually shows the trope, whereas this page's image doesn't illustrate the trope at all.

If you dont know who Batman and Superman are, it's some guy punching some other guy. Both or neither could be supers.

Sorry, that sounds like a derail. What I am saying is that there shouldn't be a double standard for trope images. If we could find an image of a creator shilling their favorite, and the audience reacting negatively, that would be best. Until then, I think the current image should remain.

[up]Certain works such as Star Wars (and, I think, Superman) are assumed to be recognizable. I've heard the name "Works of Legend" pop up occasionally for them. (You're right though, that is a derail).

(/derail)

I think this is going to be extremely hard to picture, if it's even possible. A single panel certainly isn't going to cut it unless it draws attention to the trope via dialogue, a strip would have basically the same problem, and a collage would just be confusing. Voting not picturable.

[up]The audience doesn't have to hate the guy anymore; the staff just have to love him (or her).

This is one that might be best to leave for someone to make something for it, rather than trying to find a media example.

The votes/opinions on this are all over the place...I'm wondering if we should do a Page Action crowner on this with "keep", "Keep Until Better Image Suggested", "pull", and "pull and call non-pictureable" as the options.
