Yeah, Yuu is a bitch. Strength is a bro, though.
I really have no idea what Saya sees in Yuu
I feel kind of cheated by how Dead Master revives so easily. Other than that, I liked the episode. I'm wondering why only girls get otherworld selves though. Its not like there's an alien giving out magical girl contracts exclusively to such. Oh and for some reason I want to see Insane Black Gold Saw now.
If people learned from their mistakes, there wouldn't be this thing called bad habits.

People have issues as they are. You never ever need a catalyst such as a white SWINDLER in order to peer into troubled hearts and realms
What profit is it to a man, when he gains his money, but loses his internet? Anonymous 16:26 I believe...
Hey, everything's starting to make sense! Obviously the only reason there are only girls who are Dark and Magical because the Otherworld is incredibly sexist. That or huke only really drew character designs for girls. The only BRS media with male Otherworld-ish characters is The Game, and even they're loosely connected at best. Tangentially, Yuu may be a massive bitch, but she at least she has a good Freudian Excuse. Maybe that's what Saya finds redeeming?

Official art generally tries to match the show's style, but having the artist's individual style bleed through is pretty common. Yomi's face being a bit off is pretty much par for the course
A couple thoughts: Despite the plot having a number of similarities to Madoka, the execution reminds me more of Eva than anything else. Somewhat hanging out in a crazyplace as there psychological issues are evaluated is Eva 100%, particularly with those weird documentary style scenes. We even got a long still shot with Yomi crumpled on her bed, and I'm fairly certain that wasn't for budget reasons this time Also, I find it amusing that Strength is willing to throw Yuu under the bus to save Mato
I really have no idea what Saya sees in YuuMaybe Saya's just gay for Yuu...(no pun intended)
...a little brother should belong to his older sister, right? - Orimura Chifuyu
So... I've been drawing some BRS stuff for /u/, and someone apparently ships two writers who have both written fanfics. This was the end result.◊
Finally watching episode 7 right now. Yuu: "You have to shout that she's not you!" Me: No! No, that's the opposite of what you want to do! Ah, so the depressing kotori story actually had An Aesop: The bird (Mato) took in colors (other people's problems, as well as her own) without letting any go (revealing her feelings) until she had so much grief that she was destroyed. I don't think Yuu is actually a bitch. She just has a horrible past, and then she probably went insane from living in a world where everyone is always at war with one another, and nobody has any emotions. A world that humans were never meant to live in. Another series where only girls can become magical? Maybe there's a separate otherverse where beings that shelter boys from pain exist. Otherwise, Unfortunate Implications arise, like "boys don't have feelings" or "girls can't handle their problems on their own."

Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.
I'm assuming that some sort of stereotype relating to how boys 'communicate with their bodies/fists' is at work here. That, or we're just seeing a very tiny bit of the Otherworld, and all those male designs that Huke made are actually duking it out elsewhere.

all those male designs that Huke madeSay what? Also; two days
Oh, haven't actually played the RPG myself, but someone over at Asuki mentioned that there ARE male characters, but the context that they're used is different from the TV series or OVA.
The Game has male villains, but they're not from huke's original BRS-verse
They're extant designs, but yeah, they don't fit in the paradigm followed by OVA/TV series. Which is why I'm expecting a variation of 'Men speak with their fists/bodies/actions' at work here.
...You're expecting an explanation?
Not really — the limited episode run can do that — but it's nice to dream, yes?
Just as the spell says.
Huke has male designs? His Pixiv page it rather sparse though and only has BRS, DM, and GRS fromw what I can see. As well as a few others of which I don't know the names of. Where are the rest of his designs?
Sorry, staring at pictures of Dead Master. Anyway, yes, The Game is surprisingly full of male◊ char◊acters◊, though in hindsight their designs do seem to diverge significantly from huke's originals, making it quite likely that they were designed by someone else, though who that is I wouldn't know. Still, they're characters in the BRS universe if that means anything. There's also one character◊ definitely designed by huke who may or may not be a man. Or woman. Or both. I don't really want to think about it.

They're characters in a BRS universe. One day there'll be a giant mashup of all the BRS universes and it will be glorious. ...Actually, which universe is the original one? All huke did was make a bunch of loosely connected drawings with no real plotline whatsoever, if I understand correctly.
I see breastsThose could be moobs or it could just be a really girly Bishōnen. Regardless it's probably the manliest original character huke's ever drawn.
@Logicality: That's definitely a woman. And rowr.
So, it's fairly obvious at this point that Mato is going to ignore Strength's advice and accept that IBRS is part of herself, thereby gaining control over her actions in the otherworld. Probably turn into BEAST if this happens reasonably early in the episode. I think that the catalyst for this will be Yomi; while BRS is the shadow of Mato's Stepford Smiler tendencies, Yomi is someone that she went after, felt pain for, and shared emotions with all on her own What I don't have any idea about is what's going to happen to Yuu; there's no good ending there. Her dying is what Mato is trying to make not happen, just having her stay in the otherworld resolves nothing, but having her switch back with Strength would cause more problems than it'd solve. Though I suppose there's the possibility of some sort of crazy retconnish way out, what with Mato's memories of "Yuu" appearing fake
