Hyrule: Total War :

TP is definitely a sequel to OOT, since Ganondorf's "execution" is dependent entirely on the events of OOT.

I am vexed!
It could be interpreted that way, but it's by no means necessary. Plenty of stories begin with Sealed Evil in a Can with only slight explanation. The Lord of the Rings, in book form, never give a detailed account of what happened with Isildur and the Ring outside of the appendices, for instance.

As far as I can tell, the only game that has to be a sequel to another is MM.
[up]WW pretty much has OoT written up in its opening. Sure, it could be a generic backstory, but it make no sense to interpret it that way. Specially because WW is so different from the "standard" 'Legend of Zelda', anyway (so the 'same story under Unreliable Narrator don't really make much sense here).

Anyway, there is at last other two lines of games that are explicit direct sequels: Zelda I -> Adventure of Link and Wind Waker -> Phantom Hourglass -> Spirit Tracks (not to mention the Oracle Series, who could be seen as a single game). And then there is the games which have implied connection, like Link's Awakening to either A Link to the Past or Oracle Series(or both).

Also, you are completely ignoring the portable games. Most of them don't even have relation with Ganon and sometimes not even Zelda.

Mild panic
wild mass guess Majora's Mask is the only real story. The rest of the games are just various legends from Termina about where Link came from. tongue

Anyway, I'm thinking about buying the game just so I could download the mod. I've never played it, so are there any useful tips I might need to know?

[up]I wouldn't recoment buying it solely for this mod, however. The mod is cool, but it is no where near completion and, imo, tires easy, as it is now. I do recommend buying this game for its own merits, however, since it is a great game anyway.

Anyway do not trust too much your allies. They have Chronic Backstabbing Disorder. Also, after a certain number of turns the Mongols will span from east. Be prepared, as they are many and they are powerful (and have archer cavalry, which is annoying even when in low numbers). Latter come the Timurids, which are the same plus war elephants.

Aside that, the game if farily easy to understand, if you are used to this sort of game and toggle the adviser on.

The offshoots are definitely different stories, but not necessarily sequels or prequels. Link's Awakening, for instance, doesn't have to be tied to any particular storyline and which Link is subject to interpretation. If we standardise the art style across the whole series rather than basing interpretations on the visuals, it becomes much less easy to decide what goes where.

I imagine the offshoots being minor adventures in the same way that mythological heroes often appear in folk tales aside from the story that makes them famous.

Hmmm. Do you suppose a character page should be created, ladies and gentlemen?

Given the temporal distortion of the series from both a metafictional and in-universe perspective, I suspect that would be a bad idea.

Why? We already have several character traits laid out.

Essentially, Link and Zelda are not singular characters, whether from the widely-accepted in-universe view or the metafictional perspective. Nor is anyone else. The only character to come close is Ganondorf.

Given that we have a handful of Links, Zeldas and various interpretations of the cultures and races that exist within each game, each character entry would have to be so bare-bones as to be useless. Otherwise, we'd need a separate character sheet for each generation or world interpretation.
I agree with Alex. There is no point creating a character page now. The mod don't even entered the stage of 'creating a story'. All we know from the story and character are a few notes the author left here and there that might not even go in the final version.

Heck, I find silly so much plot detail tropes listed there. If I had the patience I would probably go and remove at last half of them, since they aren't really present in the work as the work is now.

A little dry.
kinda confused by the "overshadowed by awesome" entry.

aswell as plenty others, but that entry regarding ralph is the weirdest. where are these tropers getting this stuff from?

edited 26th Oct '11 11:56:57 PM by Tarsen

Pro Tip: Spiders are not technically insects, but actually skeletons made of congealed hate.
[up]The Overshadowed by Awesome entry is just how Ralph is in the original games. Of course, as far as we know this can change completely from this mod, so having this trope there is silly.

As for the other informations, it mostly come from the Zelda games, I guess. Others probably comes from Neph's writing in the first post of the TWC thread, as well as his comments on his Deviant Art page. There might be some thing pulled Neph's previous Zelda fanworks, like Gerudo Wars.

Anyway, none of these should be there.

And on that subject...

"By what I can see everything looks canon to the mod, though I find it odd information only I knew about ended up on there, someone I know that I told things to probably made that page. grin " Nephalim.

Also, troubling pictures...

* And the Fandom Rejoiced: Particularly those that were sick of seeing their legendary childhood icons being reduced to a choo-choo train conductor. Generally inverted if you happened to be a Toon Zelda fan. This is really apparent during the first G4 TV and IGN showcases.
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks: Much to the dismay of Zelda fans that enjoyed peacefully cruising through Hyrule on their carefree locomotives, much to the joy of Zelda fans that were tired of Hyrule having the worst military in video game history since Bowser's Goombas.

This is so jaw-droppingly childish that I wonder if it's a troll who wrote it.

[up] From the similar names of the troper (Nephypoo) and the author himself (Undying Nephalim)... I believe it is the same guy. Then again, almost pure speculation on my part.

I heard somewhere on the previous page that Nephalim denied making those edits.

[up] Could you provide a link to that post please? Seeing his attitude, I believe he would lie in this situation. Then again, pure speculation on my part. No offense to you of course grin

Well this looks pretty awesome. I've been meaning to download Medieval II on Steam since that comes with Kingdoms and I only have vanilla on disc, and it looks like I now have a great excuse to.
