There have been 2 things that have caught the world's eye

Lately, asylums and mental hospitals have had a noticeable spike in patients coming in. Nobody knows or cares why, because they are more concerned with number 2.

A big bounty has been placed, for the death of a person named Dan. For the murders of important officials and various other people.

Only a few things are known about this strange person. He only has one actual friend(An), bounty hunters everywhere are aiming their guns and various torture devices at him. And that he is out to get someone. It seems to be a child, and god knows why he wants to kill the little thing. But he will not let himself be killed before he can accomplish his goal. There are only a few things blocking him.

His friend(who wants to know why) said bounty, and a strange masked creature with 2 rusted swords.

But why is he doing this? What kind of reward will he get from murdering a child? What IS the true nature of Dan?

The world isn't anywhere near normal if it's stagnated for 2+ decades...

The concept just becomes unbelievable to me once I start poking from there, so you've got a lot of filling in to do.

Forget the tropes until after you're done.

You should start writing that story and post a chunk of that for feedback, instead of a raw concept.

[up] I think we have the right to post our ideas to see people's reactions to the premise itself.

I know, but once you throw the actual execution into the equation, people who liked the premise might not like the actual work, and vice versa.

If any details about the whereabouts of his friend are "known," ie publicly known, I should think An would have just as many weapons and torture implements pointed at her.

Ponders too much; thinks too little. Currently goes by Knowlessman.

REVISED CONCEPT

The world has been stable for quite a few years now. And yet you could feel uneasiness. You could feel like something is lurking in the shadows, but in just won't strike.

There was a government scientist with a bright mind, and a brilliant concept. His name was forgotten, but his ideals were remembered as ambitious. He wanted mankind to make a large step in evolution. Regeneration, enhanced strength, the intellect to comprehend, etc. Though he wanted humanity to walk at it's own pace. Slowly being introduced to these things, eventually comprehending them, and it's power and potential. His ideals, and intentions were often forgotten, because he was remembered as a monster. His treatment of test subjects was almost inhumane, and he disregarded their rights as humans. Granted, most of them were criminals and orphans, "the end does not justify the means". Not to mention, there were several ways this ambitious project could bite him back. How he got away with this, still remains unknown.

His goal was to create a prototype, the ultimate being he thinks humans could become. To show the potential of all these biological advancements. He knew none of the test subjects had bodies that would be able to absorb all those things, so instead, he experimented on them one by one. With each test subject being given an augmentation each, and when it has stabilized, it will be put on to the prototype. His vision seemed so close, he could touch it...

But our main hero is Daniel Thornton, a lab rat, along with the rest of them. His enhancement was heightened senses. Daniel had suffered even more compared to the others. What ever they felt, he felt something much stronger compared to the others. He was once near death, but due to a freak accident with the electricity, he gained his ability unintentionally. He became vulnerable to many things, loud noises, strong scents, etc. But he also felt more pain compared to others. It was an unavoidable side-effect, but that did not stop the scientist. All day and night, he tried to find ways to cancel out the pain. But nothing worked, and it only tortured him all the more. His only comfort was knowing that it might end. But during those months of torture, he had grown. He used the advantages of his state to listen to important conversations. He could analyze things well, and has become more patient. Everyday he became smarter, wiser, and more dangerous. And this was all culminating to the final months.

The prototype took form of an embryo, and began growing like a normal child. A normal child with freakish powers, but a normal child, nonetheless. He was taught "good morals" and how to control his abilities. During this stage, Thornton sat and waited. He monitored the guards routes at day, and listened to them. Slowly noticing patterns that might help his escape. And during the meeting, he manages to make all hell break loose. He quickly grabs the key card, opens his cage, and proceeds to destroy the security panels. The test subjects break free, and chaos ensues.Officials and representatives get killed left and right, but the scientist focused more on the child, and tried to carry him to safety, and slowly gets mutated as a result. Dan tries to blend in, but could not keep up, eventually getting trampled by the inmates. When he wakes up, he sees the consequences for his actions. Debris scattered around the floor, Dead bodies everywhere , and blood. Lots and lots of blood. He got a knife from a dead body, just in case other psychos were just outside. When he got out, he was covered in blood. But just then, a police officer passed by. He fixated his eyes onto the dead body on the floor, and the knife on Dan's hand. He eventually noticed the other dead officials in front of him, and the fact that Dan was covered in blood did not help at all. He was blamed for the murders of high officials, and probably would have suffered a death penalty if he stayed. He tried to move on, but no one would leave him alone. He had become the most wanted man in that area, and his body count kept on rising(due to "self defense").

The scientist became wanted as well. When the building collapsed, all the horrible experiments, and his horrible treatment to test subjects was put into light. But he was in heavy denial, and continued protecting the child. Because he believed that one day, he could prove that he was right. He told that to himself everyday, but it only proved that he was sinking into paranoia.

The child proved unstable, and he slowly began affecting life forms around him. He was causing pain, and he didn't even know it. Despite Dan's honest wishes, he knew he had to kill the child. He knew that he had to kill the scientist.

The world just wasn't ready yet.
