Anyone see the new Tim Allen sitcom last night? What did you think?

I loved the Leaning on the Fourth Wall bit in the very first scene of the pilot with Tim Allen's character Mike yelling "I'M BACK! Boy it's good to be back home!"

The show was okay, and had its funny moments. But as others have noted, it's basically Home Improvement with the genders reversed. Now he has 3 daughters instead of three sons. His wife is the one with the high paying job, he isn't.

Mike using parts of his personal life for his company's vlog is obviously barrowed from the Tool Time segments when Tim Taylor would incorporate his personal life problems into the show.

Mike's boss seems to be gearing up to be the "Wilson" of the show. Except they're not hiding his face.

Overall, not bad. Not great though.

If I had a nickel for every film where Emma Stone falls off a balcony... I'd only have two nickels, but weird that there's two of them.

I was kind of dissapointed with it. Tim Allen did great with his character, his boss was funny, and the vlog scenes were really good, but other than that, none of the characters really had much personality. The main problem was the three daughters, who were basically just stereotypical whiny sitcom teenage girls and didn't seem to have much other than "I need money and I'm whiny" as motivation. It definately has the potential to be as good Home Improvement, but right now it's just so-okay-it's-slightly-below-average.

I like the show, but I agree with what cfive said about the daughters especially. It doesn't help that one of them is the brainless trampy type we've seen so much ever since Kelly Bundy. That one, Mandy, is the one with the most whiny problems.

The oldest of the three already has a kid, and mostly just complains about her job. And the third, Eve, is mainly about citing the recent happenings of her crush and how his decisions affect hers (She won't go trick-or-treating cause HE thinks it's childish).

The boss is definitely one of the funnier characters, senile but not completely off the wall insane like some iCarly character.
