Ways An Abusive Parent Could Use Flying Brick Kids :

[up]That's what I mean, okay here's the breakdown, first five years, life is fine. Then the kids super senses start manifesting, the parents think the kids are developing mental issues, takes them to a psychologist. Later on super speed develops, very hard to keep them under control, finally super strength develops and Troy accidentally permanently damages his Dad's arm.

They could easily chalk those up to learning experiences. If these parents are meant to become worse as the kids' powers grow, there needs to be some evidence of it from the beginning, not something that just pops up for no discernible reason.

Would them having a sort of unnatural intellect from early on help?

Naw, you can just show them as being slightly paranoid over minor things.

If Troy broke his Dad's arm in a tantrum think that'd be able to start it?

Dad would probably chalk that up to a learning experience and ground the kid for a week.

Dad could never move that arm again.

Dad may hold a slight grudge but would most likely use his busted arm as a reason why the kid's powers are bad. All in the name of good parenting, of course.

Would you buy them eventually trying to kill the kid's?

Not really. Seems too extreme.

If it helps, on a scale of one to ten, one being Golden Age Superman, ten being Silver age Supes, the kid's are a seven or eight.

Well, if you want the parents to end up trying to kill the kids, why not make the kids into villains? Those kinds of powers make each of those kids into a lethal weapon; make the kids unhinged and remorseless, and have the parents lose control over them as time goes on. It seems to me like the kids would make better villains than heroes, and it seems like watching the parents learn to deal with and keep sociopathic versions of Superman in check could be interesting.

[up]That does sound interesting but sociopathic Superman been's done quite a bit and I have a plot in mind.

If I had flying brick kids, I'd pressure/goad/coerce them into Pro sports. Make'em earn a fortune (imagine a NFL player/pro boxer that doesn't get no injuries). Once I got'em into sports, I'd probably live leeching off'em.

Not a high-class, rich person lifestyle (that'd be too moochy, mind ya) but certainly an upper-middle-class lifestyle without working worth a damn. With kids that were multi-millionaires, they'd probably not even notice my mooching of about a hundred grand a year.
You exist because we allow it and you will end because we demand it.

Does this sound interesting? The kid's trying to find uses for their powers after running away.

To be honest, with the idea that you have, it sounds like it would be rather difficult to play it off as anything besides a comedy. For parents to be THAT abusive to kids, you're approaching territories of Narm. And if anything, Superman would be a deconstruction of YOUR story.

I decided to try and make the abuse more psychological.

But there are VERY few cases in which abusive parents are downright evil. For the most part, they don't even KNOW they're doing something wrong, which your things sound pretty overt about.

Well in this case they think they need to stop the kids from going Beware the Superman. Also thi k it'd be refreshing if the government didn't go for trying to cut them up and tried to be nice?

Would it be to implausible for the kids to actually try superheroing without secret identities?

The system doesn't know you right now, so no post button for you.
You need to Get Known to get one of those.
