Persona 4 The Animation. No spoilers.

I watched the first episode without having played any of the game and was intrigued, but there wasn't really a lot to go by at that point other than "that last scene was Bad Ass."

Before the second episode came out, I'd played up to the Shadow Yosuke fight, but I'm holding off on playing further until I've seen the relevant episodes, so I'll be able to go back to providing a noob's-eye perspective (at least to a point; I have played Persona 3, so I wasn't ever coming in completely blind).

Everyone getting their Personas is at least half the game.

I was afraid something like that might happen.

Not as bad as it sounds. Eventually(see. after Chie) characters getting their Persona is more tied into the main plot.

I found the animation to be subpar (just recently did I notice the weird shading by the characters' chin areas, similar to what you see on their character portraits in-game, I was hoping that the animation would be sorta similar to how the cutscenes were done in the game, but well, too bad it wasn't), but otherwise the story's okay (so far), and the voice acting is good.

Persona 4 is pretty much a character-driven story for half of the entire game. Not as disappointing as it sounds, hopefully.

Well, actually, the majority of the gameplay up to this point in the story has been pressing the X button.

Of course, that's always an important aspect, since there's no auto-advance on the text.

I just wish there was an option to skip the text like most visual novels have... I mean, I love the story and all, but when I'm replaying it I'd like to skip some scenes.

You can turn auto-advance on in the options.

The best you can do in P4 is speed through text, I think by holding down the triangle button.

Episode 3 aired. We see Shadow Chie and Yu changing Personas. I loved it.

The music transitions were much better this time, except for the one time the song cut off just before the final scene.

I was wondering how (and if!) they were going to handle showing Yu having multiple Personas. It works well, and it leaves me hopeful that we'll be seeing a lot of Social Links now that the anime has established that new Personas come directly from them instead of simply receiving more power from them. ALL THE ARCANA, GO GO GO.

As a bonus: All-Out Attack!

Yu is increasingly cracking me up with his amazing deadpan. "It's making me cry. :|" and that "Don't include me in this :|" when Yosuke was busily getting them arrested... I'm really starting to like him.

And... wow, Chie's Inner Dominatrix. I am not sure quite what to say about that one.
