It seems pretty clear from the article that the porn on the C Ds was of actual children
How clear? And does it specify any proof that the CP wasn't planted there by the robbers?

As for USAF... on graffiti, see also my point about sense of lawlessness... also, I think there's also a risk of allergic reactions to graffiti in some cases? (Though yeah, I agree community service would also be fitting.)

... why don't you read the article instead of asking me what it says? It's not very long.

I won't follow the graffiti derail anymore.

But, yeah, if we punish them with anything, it should be community service...

[up][up] I did. The closest thing to implying it was of real children was "they discovered that some of them contained pornographic images of children, the statement said."

This still does not rule out the possibility that the robbers found pornographic images of non-real children, and simply said "of children" as a way of equivocating. Or that they may have made planted it there just to get a light sentence for robbery.

Remember, most people react to these kinds of alleged crimes in a knee-jerk way resembling witch-hunts. It's up to the rest of us in mind to take that into account and correct for it.

If they wanted to escape punishment, couldn't they just not go to the police? And if this is an intrigue against the guy, it must have someone cackling "Just as Planned" right now.

they discovered that some of them contained pornographic images of children, the statement said.

Investigators said Stockard has been downloading indecent images of children since 2004

Look... when I read this, I think it's supposed to be understood that they were real photos. If they were drawings or animated movies, the article would have said so - because that would have changed the situation.

And this is the police saying this. Not the robbers.

Just to clear up, the guy admitted that he had CP on those disk. He hasn't commented whenever or not there is any on Hard Drive.

Emphasis mine

Investigators said Stockard has been downloading indecent images of children since 2004. He has admitted possessing the pornography on the C Ds but has refused to say whether there is pornography on the computers, they said. Stockard was booked for possession of child pornography and posted $25,000 bail.

So yeah, findings are legit. Still, buglars are most likely get off lightly (they turned themselves in and provided proof of more serious crime). Doesn't make their crime right.

[up][up] Ah. Missed the second one.

Still doesn`t say how we know the police weren`t fooled though.

Good on 'em for turning themselves in and exposing this creep. Hopefully they'll get a lenient sentence for their own crime in light of what they did.
